Obs video is choppy and laggy

I've tried to do everything with the youtube videos and forums but nothing seems to work. Even if the quality of the video is bad and the fps is low, it still lags the same as if everything was maxed out. It occurs on all my games as well. Pls help.

specs:
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 5600x 6-Core Processor
SSD - Samsung SSD 980 1TB
Ram - 4 sticks of TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta 8gb DDR4 3000MHz (PC4-24000) CL16
Motherboard- ASUS ROG strix B450-F II AMD AM4 (Ryzen 5000, 3rd Gen Ryzen ATX)
Powersupply - Corsair VS Series VS650 - 650 Watt 80

It told me to switch from mp4 to mkv. I did and now it still keeps saying to switch it and nothing else.

Your log file doesn't have a recording/streaming session, so it's useless. You have a 165 hz monitor, so your video card is probably loaded up to 100%. Try to limit fps in games and switch to cbr bitrate.

Also disable overlay programs like nvidia shadowplay and disable preview in obs. In any case, we need a normal report to take a look at your encoder settings.
