Question / Help Obs Stops Recording Video When in Background

I'm very new to OBS so I'm probably doing something wrong. I'm using obs to record Garry's Mod. The game is in windowed mode and obs is recording the inner window. It works fine when I press Start Recording, but when I click a Garry's Mod (putting OBS in the background) it apparently stops recording video. When I preview the recording, it is as if it only recorded one frame of the video. All of the sounds have recorded normally.
Then I tested it again. I clicked on Garry's mod after I started recording and I moved around in-game, then I paused the game and clicked on OBS, and when OBS became the active window, it recorded Garry's mod just fine until it was put into the background again. I'll post a video on this thread when it finishes uploading.
I'm not very good at explaining things. That's why I'm posting a video.
Anyway, if you know anything about this I would very much appreciate some advice. Thanks!

I probably did this wrong, so here is a link to the uploaded log as well: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/961739f7feef64d0488d#file-2015-01-02-1214-25-log-L1

And here is a link to the video: https://vimeo.com/115817588
When the video changes (the image changes) I'm clicking onto the OBS software, it isn't just lag.

OBS actually uses LESS resources when compared to Dxtory or XSplit. You may actually need to upgrade your computer if you plan on streaming/recording at all, actually. Or you may need to use something more minimalistic, like FRAPS.

How do I upgrade my computer? I have a dell with intel Pentium and I'm on Windows 8.1 so is there a simple way to get a better software or something?
