Question / Help OBS Sound Issue

Hello! Im trying to stream with my Elgato and PS3. The issue is since my headset (Logitech G930's) is a usb, I need to use a line in cable from my PS3 to my PC so I can hear skype, ts or whatever through the headset while hearing gamesound. I use skype mainly. When streaming/recording, OBS is picking up the line in sound and the Elgato sound. Can I somehow mute the line in audio from going to OBS?

I have selected it to listen through my headset aswell.

Thanks!

your best bet is to use a second sound card since you are using a line in that is going into the sound card. the only real way to mute it is to mute the line in from my understanding.

Well actually, now that I think I understand, is the line in going to the elgato or to your sound card?

The line in is going to the soundcard. OBS is picking up skype (what I want) and the elgato sound. But somehow its picking up the line in sound going to the headset.

I would almost suggest to try and use OBS MP since its able to distinguish and control multiple audio inputs and feeds. it can be downloaded from our main page.

Doesnt work. Cant capture elgato. >:(
Ok, I reread your issue. elgato will record what it "hears" from the PS3. since you are looping the sound back through, there really isn't a good way to stop OBS from recording skype without using VAC or some sort virtual cable to isolate out the skype calls from OBS.

or you might have to rethink how you are doing this.

Ive tried virtual audio, and I dont understand it. I got the multiplatform working with Elgato, but its still picking up the line in. Why cant there just be some sort of setting or something. -_-

because your setup is looping back to which the only way to fix it hardware wise would be to get a cheap USB sound card then set skype to use that card, then lineout to the line in on your PS4

I said I had a PS3. Why would I need to do this with skype if the elgato is capturing the ingame sound, and obs is picking up the line in? The entire point is for it to NOT pickup the line in sound.

OBS isn't picking up the line in. the line in to your PS3 is being recorded by your elgato because thats the way you hooked it up. think of elgato as a line out for audio and video. elgato records what you hear so therefore, that is the part of the issue. the second part of the cause is OBS listens to your desktop and since skype is being played back on your desktop, you hear it twice.

to isolate so you dont hear it twice (because OBS will record what it hears on the desktop as well. you need to use a different audio device than what OBS is set to record, for skype.

The elgato has to be setup thru the RB Cable. Then a HDMI to the monitor or TV. Im using the 3.5mm line in 2 way from the monitors jack to my PC.

You use the top left cable from PS3 to Elgato.
