Question / Help OBS Settings for i7 4790K BUT LOW UPLOAD SPEED [1.22Mbps on speedtest]

I only have 1 mbps upload speed BUT I'm upgrading my net to 2mbps upload this week.

My PC specs:
CPU: i7 4790K (4ghz / runs at 4.2-4.4)
GPU: GTX 960 (2GB)
RAM: 8 GB

So here are my questions. What should I use and what are the pros and cons of every choice;

1) Encoder: x264 or nvidia NVENC
2) max rate kbps ? / buffer size ?
3) audio codec ? bitrate ? stereo or mono ?
4) fps ? (i use 25 now)
5) ANY help regarding "ADVANCED OPTIONS" is appreciated I'm a total noob when it comes to those. My main questions are whether I should use CFR and CBR and what x264 cpu preset I should use with the CPU I own. Right now I use "veryfast". Should I go for "fast" or lower, or that will damage/overheat my CPU ?

Any kind of help is appreciated! :) Thanks for your time.

your best settings with 1500 bitrate (which is around what you want to use) would be:

720@30 for a third person shoulder
616@30 for first person shooter

this is basically based on higher movement needing more bitrate or lower base resolution.

with the settings above, you could set your CPU preset a bit lower which will give you better quality at that bitrate.
both of the above should be fine with a medium preset but watch your CPU usage since this is game dependent. ifyour CPU usage peaks at 90% or more, then back off the preset to fast or even faster.

Thanks! I've noticed some stuttering (im still on 1.1 upload - 800 kbps in obs settings) when im strafing my mouse left and right in CS:GO. Will that get fixed once I set it to 1500 kbps or is it something else ? Also, i'm using "faster" preset for now @25 fps.

~ UPDATE ~

Even with the static IP my upload speed won't go over 1.22 Mbps on speedtest.net. So I need any kind of help with the OBS settings. Sucks I have such a great CPU and such a shitty upload speed.

Speedtests are not very helpful with streaming. try this tool:http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/tech-support/478845-twitchtest-twitch-bandwidth-tester
static IP has nothing to do with your connection anyway.

If you are still getting stuttering, use 80% of the upload from the tool I mentioned above. setting bitrate higher than your upload speed can take will cause the stuttering during higher motion

and last but definitely not least post your OBS logfile when you have issues or questions.

Thanks a lot for helping! Ahm I tested my bandwidth.

1186 - amsterdam
1178 - frankfurt

(I was using NL anyway)

Here is my last log file: https://gist.github.com/24f839cff7ca15baec85
Here is my bandwidth test in detail: http://i60.tinypic.com/2mp07b4.png

ANY kind of help is highly appreciated! I'm going live tomorrow and I don't know what to do haha

If your constraints are 1100 then set your bitrate/buffer to 880 then set your audio bitrate to 64kbps. After that set your downscale to 480p (because 480p will look better at lower bitrates) and fps to 30.

I tried 800 kbps and i got TERRIBLE ping XD (i stream CS:GO mainly) like uh 250~ ping going up and down like crazy aka unplayable.

Since my base resolution is 1920x1080 i downscale it to 1280x720 so that I can use Lanczos (Filter). I've noticed that works pretty good. I'm at 575 bitrate at the moment (same buffer)

Here's my problem if I try to go down to 480 resolution, weird things happen like my stream shows either on top left side or just shows the top left screen of my monitor like wut. XD

I'm using "stretch imagine to screen"

I tried also "ignore aspect ratio" but that didn't work either.

720@30 will use 5 times your bitrate to look decent (2500). dont worry about the filter when down-scaling more. bicubic is actually sharper than lanzcos (which is smoother).

don't just set the custom base resolution to 480p, set the base resolution to 1920x1080 then downscale to 480p. down-scaling will not affect the aspects of the game,

give 800 bitrate a try and set minimize network impact

okay thanks a lot! Ima try that and give feedback as soon as possible!

Alright so right now i'm at 575 bitrate (same buffer) 480p resolution (downscaled from 1080) and i get those ping spikes like i have 85-90 normal ping and it spikes up to 120 / 130/ 140 even 150 in some rare occasions.

What I haven't tried yet is "minimize network impact". You think that will make a difference ?

Also I wanna know these:
Should I use:
1) CBR ?
2) CBR padding ?
3) CFR ?
4) High or main process priority class ?

I'm also using a custom x264 encoder: 8x8dct=1 aq-mode=2 b-adapt=2 bframes=1 chroma-qp-offset=2 colormatrix=smpte170m deblock=0:0 direct=auto ipratio=1.41 keyint=240 me=umh merange=16 min-keyint=auto mixed-refs=1 no-mbtree=0 partitions=all profile=high psy-rd=0.5:0.0 qcomp=0.6 qpmax=51 qpmin=10 qpstep=4 ratetol=10 rc-lookahead=30 ref=1 scenecut=40 subme=10 threads=0 trellis=2 weightb=1 weightp=2

And last but not least, anything I can do in advanced settings with the lower latency thing ?

Bump! I tried network impact thingy but it still gives me over 110 ping at 575 bitrate o_O Any help ? Also what I asked up there ^

take out all your custom x264 settings, just trust in the presets for the moment. yes, minimize network impact sometimes helps, but sometimes, with dropping the preset will cause stream to go over the max bitrate, so for now, lets go back to veryfast
1. yes
2. yes
3. most of the time yes
4. main.

I've already checked over your log prior to this and you keep adding and changing things, like the the x264 presets which looks like you just copy-pasted from some old thread.

Alright mate Ima try all those things you told me ^

One more thing. I meant process priority class -> high / above normal / normal / idle
There is no "main", I failed there XD That was the encoding profile haha

Another thing: I added 2nd monitor (DVI port on my GPU) my pc identified it but it's black :/ power light is going on and off as if my pc is off. Any suggestion ?

I tried everything u said. Still ping and today it was worse than yesterday xD Iwas forced to go down to 550 from 575. I just don't get it. I have 1300+ kB available, and it struggles at less than 600 lol whereas everyone says "use 80% for ur stream".

What the heck is going on here XD
