Don't know why it doesn't work, I was rendering in Camtasia for a youtube video, and OBS crashed and so did skype. But when I restarted and finished my rendering everything worked fine, until after about an hour (starting playing league) OBS crashed and gave me this log message in the spoiler, and idea how to fix this or what the problem is:
Code:

For some reason it says unsupported? There are only 2 drivers for windows 8 graphics? I install one and it appears to get the whole way but says something about "wrong driver for this manufacturer and to do to the manufacturer for it? o.o

Is it relevant that I'm using an http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X75A/ nvm im using the upgrade of this... <.<

Sorry for triple post...I have left the original Log in the first post on a spoiler...Sorry for long post I'm just trying to include as much information as possible, I know what it's like to be on the support end with some computer illiterate providing super vague information.

I installed the graphics HD VGA intel driver from the asus website on my laptop, however now my OBS doesn't show the intel hd 4000. Instead it shows 2x 720 GT m (which I don't have) I only have one. However it also shows "Microsoft Basic Render Driver", both graphics HD 4000 and the 720m GT both show in device manager, but OBS still continuously crashes, it can run fine but as soon as I run a game it crashes, and I have the black screen problem when I try to capture a game, and I can't set it to the primary monitor as my HD Intel 4000 no longer shows in OBS.

OBS had problems, I was basically rendering a video on camtasia this morning, and finally updated my OBS. I changed no settings in OBS, and clicked "start streaming" and as soon as I got to the game, OBS crashed. I can literally run OBS, and force a crash by opening up Dishonored, The moment dishonored reaches the title screen, OBS crashes. This is a big inconvenience as I can only stream for long hours on friday and saturdays, which hinders the progress of my stream.

*edit* in the time of writing this post, my Intel HD 4000 has magically (literally) reappeared, in OBS settings. If I start stream, it disappears, but if I close OBS and re-open it, the Intel HD 4000 reappears, then I click "start streaming" and it disappears again

Also when I installed the graphics driver from the website Asus, it told me "this is an older version" however I cannot find a more recent version, that will install.

Thanks for any help in advanced. I really don't want to have to system recovery, sooooooooo much data to move that I need and I only have 1 day of streaming (long duration) left.

*edit* http://ark.intel.com/products/72056 this is my processor

Hmm i see what's happening, First update your HD 4000 drivers back (here's a direct link http://downloadmirror.intel.com/23405/a ... _15338.exe ) and restart.

Don't run OBS or anything just yet, go to your nvidia global 3D settings and change the global preferred graphics processor to "high performance NVIDIA" and apply.. this picture should better describe what I'm talking about http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h42 ... 0764cd.jpg once you're done with that, launch OBS go strait to Settings>video and select the top adapter (don't mind the name of the adapter) just make sure you pick the top one.

I thought this would solve the problem as soon as I saw the post but, after installing the intel driver, it gets to like 99,9% complete, literally too, and then errors saying "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver the computer manufacturer. Set up will exit."

This is my laptop

Well you can still install the driver manually in that case.
Get and extract the zip version, http://downloadmirror.intel.com/23405/a ... _15338.zip
then follow the steps.
Press the Windows key and the X key together.
Select Device Manager.
Click Yes when prompted for permission from User Account Control.
Expand the Display adapters section.
Right-click the Intel graphics entry and select Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Browse and select the directory where the driver files are located.
Click Next. Drivers are now being installed.
Reboot computer when prompted.

It wasn't letting me do that saying that it was already up to date, so I uninstaleld the intel hd graphics and re-extracted the zip you linked, it seems to be working at the moment...will restart after and give an update. Thanks for the help

Hmmm it still seems to change from "Intel HD Graphics" and "Nvidea GT 720m" to 2x "Nvidea GT 720m" and "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" in OBS when I hit "Start Streaming". Also this HD Graphics Control Panel looks different to the one I had before? Same crash error as before when I run a game while using OBS, it all seemed fine before 0.60, I don't know what happened, did my graphics driver get corrupt or something? Or could it be OBS? Everything still seems to work fine if OBS isn't open.

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabook ... t_Download

im trying this driver now "Intel Graphics Driver" 2012.11.22

*edit* same thing...nothing changed except now i have the control panel I had back

*edit* the problem is also present when using "Preview Stream"

The default for OBS is my Intel HD 4000 but that disappears from the drop down box when I actually get OBS to do something :/

Can you post a new log file ? Actually before you that try creating a new scene with only game capture and see if you can get it to crash again that way.

11 minutes with game capture only, no crash. that's probably long enough to assume it's not game capture since it was almost instant before. a further ten minutes with cam + text. 2-3 minutes of monitor capture and it crashes.

OBS has encountered an unhandled exception and has terminated. If you are able to
reproduce this crash, please submit this crash report on the forums at
http://www.obsproject.com/ - include the contents of this crash log and the
minidump .dmp file (if available) as well as your regular OBS log files and
a description of what you were doing at the time of the crash.

This crash appears to have occured in the 'c:\windows\system32\igd10umd64.dll' module.

What about windows 8.1?

And how come it worked from mid December until yesterday? The problem literally happened as soon as the update happened. The version of OBS I had before ran it perfectly...check all my vods on twitch.tv/hakainokame was all using monitor capture o.0 same PC, same config, only thing that changed was OBS update. :/

Also I was running it all off my Intel HD 4000? Which it no longer detects...it just screws up...and doesn't recognize it and shit, like if I select the Intel HD 4000 and start stream it disappears, I originally had the geforce running physics only, and I doubt the build in Intel is incapable of monitor capture, this is how I originally had it set up before the new patch errored on me and stopped detecting my intel hd 4000.

Can you post a log from of a mid December streaming run when you were using monitor capture? Does monitor capture still cause the issue if you set the global preferred graphics adapter to power saving mode while selecting the top one on OBS?

hmmm strange, i just noticed, why do I only have 2 days of logs? when you can see on my twitch that I've been using OBS waaaaaaaay longer than that lol am i looking in the wrong place? is there an archive or something?

*edit* i don't think i've ever used power saving mode, i just know my primary adapter was the HD 4000 but now it's being run on the 720 m GT because for some reason OBS drops the Intel HD 4000 when i click "start streaming"
