Question / Help OBS not picking up mic

Hey all, so I just started using OBS as I'm a new streamer. Everything works great with the exception that its not picking up my mic audio. It captures all the footage i want just fine and has no trouble with in-game audio. I'm wondering if maybe its just my mic? I've got an old Razer headset my buddy gave me, I don't even know what model, but it jacks right into to the headphone jack, do I need to be using a USB mic? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hopefully I did that right. As for selecting the mic the only options are Disabled, Default, Line(Apowersoft_AudioDevice) and Microphone(Realtek High Definition Audio) none of the options works for me.

Is the mic working in other programs? From your description it sounds like your headset should have two 3.5mm plugs, one for the headset that plugins into the speaker jack (green) and a second for the mic that plugs into the mic jack (red).

It does have the two plugs and works fine with Skype, while running multiple programs. Though plugging in the red plug mutes the mic while in Skype.

What? If the headset has two plugs, one is for the earpieces and the other is for the mic. If you aren't plugging the mic in it isn't going to pass sound to Skype. Are you sure a different device like a webcam isn't recording your voice instead? What recording device are you using for Skype?

If I plug in both plugs no sound gets picked up by Skype at all, the mic symbol on the pug even has a line through, which generally indicates muting unless I'm mistaken. As far as what recording device I'm using, I've just got the headset plug in and then run Skype, I suppose its possible that the PC's webcam is picking up the sound.

Did some testing, it was the webcam mic picking me up & the headset is completely broken, OBS wont pick me up with just the PC's built in mic so it looks like I'm going to have to pick up a USB mic and see if everything works then. Thanks for your help!
