Question / Help OBS not picking up capture source (black screen) in games

Hello,
I've been having a lot of this issue with various games ever since 3-4 months ago.
Basically what happens is that when I use game capture, OBS refuses to pick up on the image from that game, and just displays a black screen.
I can run in admin mode and find the game in source list, but it just wont display.

Sometimes it helps to minimize and maximize the game, or use windowed mode, - but then again sometimes not.
Other sources works fine, it's just the games. (most recently archeage.)

Games that are very prone to this happening, is games with lobbys, like mobas and RTS, where OBS will for example pick up on the lobby, but then not pick up on the actual game.

My only solution in these cases is capture window, but, whenever I do and multitask, OBS will pick up my emails and other secret stuff :D
I mean it does not lock to a window, its more like an aero capture.

Any help appreciated :)

For games with lobbies that are separate applications from the game, you'll have to add a second capture source for the game specifically.

If Aero is enabled, then Window capture should only capture the specified window, unless you have Capture Layered Windows checked.

Alt tab, double click game capture, make sure the game is detected and selected, head back into the game.

Yes that helps sometimes, but on other games like for example ArcheAge, I just simply cannot make OBS show it.
It will detect it, and select it, but only display a black screen.
I've had this problem in numerous games

I cannot find an aero option, where is this?
This is just the default behaviour of my window capture.
i.e. if I capture a window, then whatever is on top within that window frame, will also be captured.
So if the game crashes it will capture my desktop or usually my emails -.-, or if something pops up it will capture that, like my camera controlls, or steam messages.
