Question / Help OBS black screen on desktop when streaming full screen games

Hello Everyone

I have recently decided to download OBS in order to live stream games such as Dota 2. However when i try to stream games all that shows up is a black screen (with the game sound). I am using a desktop computer with a gtx770 and an intel i7. Could anyone tell me how i can fix this problem? I have tried searching through youtube to find a solution but everyone else seems to be having this problem on a laptop and the things they use to solve their problem does not work for me.

it does appear to work when i only use game capture to record but i would like to be able to live stream

Game capture must be used for fullscreen games, and generally should be used where possible as it's the most efficient capture method. Window capture can be used if your game runs in windowed or borderless windowed mode, but if you're running Vista or 7 make sure that Aero is enabled. Monitor capture should only be used if you're using Windows 8, it performs really super terribly in Vista and 7 no matter what you do.
 
i just want to be able to stream games in fullscreen mode without it going black. I am using windows 7
