Question / Help No audio on preview of Pinnacle Studio

So I have googled this extensively, and it seems like this was a problem for a lot of other people about a year ago.

There was basically no solution posted in any of these threads, but for some reason it doesnt seem to be a problem anymore for most people. The issue is that whatever OBS outputs these files as, Pinnacle (among other video editing software, i personally also tried AVS) doesnt see the audio track. VLC sees it, it is recording just fine, my computer volume is on, pinnacle isnt muted, the audio track isnt muted, blah blah blah all of the easy stuff is not the problem. Again, the program doesnt even *see* the audio- it doesnt show the waveform or anything.

Curiously, if I take these files and convert them from mp4 to mp4 (in another program), they work just fine.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling OBS, didnt work either.

I tried changin the audio codec, both mp3 and AAC do nothing.

It's about codecs. Perhaps you just need to get codecs, at least if pinnacle uses directshow codecs for decoding. Download some sort of common codec pack so you can decode it. If that doesn't work then the problem is most likely just that pinnacle doesn't support AAC or MP3 audio on video files.
