I'm wanting to pc game and record the gameplay to edit and upload to Youtube. I understand the basics, i looked up videos for settings that's suitable for 1080p HD videos. Although when i am recording, OBS warns me that it takes too long to encode, and when i review the gameplay, there's lots of pauses in the recording, obviously because it cannot handle it.

I want to post my specs, and also screenshots of my video, encoding etc settings and i'm hoping somebody can put this noob's mind at ease, because i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to recording settings :S

Thanks!

Specs:

Motherboard
CPU - Intel I7 3770 @3.4GHz (Not Overclocked)
GPU - AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
PSU - 800w Powercool
RAM - 12gb ddr3
HardDrive - 500gb

I hope somebody can help me out :)

Thanks for the hasty reply, Krazy!

I followed the thread, however while recording my bitrate (despire being max'd at 1000kb/s) is going as high at 50,000kb/s, and so the encoding problem is continuing!

Why's this happening?

Well, setting 1000 bitrate, 0 buffer let's the encoder use whatever it wants. Even bitrates of 50,000 should not be causing problems, so I would venture to guess something else is going wrong. Can you include a log file?

Change your preset back to Veryfast, or even Superfast for extra performance. Encoding 1080p on medium preset is insanity, and there's a reason there is a pop up warning when you go to change the preset

Oh wait, i just realised what you meant by preset, i thought you meant game settings... see what i mean? I'm a noob. lol! let me change the preset on OBS and see what difference it makes!

EDIT: This has indeed fixed the problem, though now i've developed an audio problem, oh well! Thank you Krazy!
