Question / Help My OBS Preview and Stream Freeze about in 5 Seconds

I've had problems with OBS since I downloaded it. With any game, monitor, whatever. As soon as I hit start stream or preview stream it works for 5 seconds then freezes. I get a warning that says high encoding. I put my settings on twitch's recommended settings. I'm starting to get irritated and I really want it to work, I've even reset and redownloaded OBS nothing works PLEASE HELP!

It happens when you buy inexpensive underpowered hardware intended for very basic computing tasks like web browsing and email, and try to use it for very processing-intensive tasks like real time video encoding.

You can refuse to believe it, but it's the truth, your particular CPU is not good enough.

Upgrade your system, if it's a laptop, get a new powerful laptop.

Streaming requires high end CPUs and graphics cards. You're looking at around $600 just for a CPU and GPU that are decent, then $150 for a nice motherboard, add on RAM, power supply, case, SSD / HDD and it can easily reach $1000+. Budget systems / laptops that are less than $1000 are unlikely to be suitable for streaming.
