Question / Help Monitor And Window Capture Not Working/Unusable

I have no way to efficiently record my desktop. Game capture works well with games; however monitor and window capture don't work as they should.

Monitor Capture is amazingly laggy and delayed. It will record my mouse movements somewhat accurately, but it won't pick up any changes in windows. Say Google Chrome is open at the start of the Monitor Capture and I minimize it, the Monitor Capture won't show it minimized. It will just show it how it was at the start. Some windows achieve movement in the capture after 30+ seconds.

Window Capture just gives me a full black screen with a small white rectangle in the upper left-hand corner. It's completely unusable.

I've looked for many fixes for this. Uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated OBS to no avail. Tweaked with a lot of settings, but nothing has worked. I would appreciate any help.

I want to be able to use OBS to capture my desktop because it has worked really well for game capture. But at this rate, I feel like I need to find a different program.

Alright, I don't want monitor capture to work for games. I want to be able to make quality recordings of my normal desktop screen, capture windows like Chrome and Steam. However, both window capture and monitor capture are not able to do that for me.

High-Performance NVIDIA Processor. I've seen the posts about laptops having two cards, and if something is running on a card that OBS isn't running on, OBS can't record it. So I followed the solution steps and made sure my NVIDIA card is the default/global setting for everything, especially OBS.

Wow! Thanks, that basically completely fixed monitor capture. There's one problem down.

However, window capture still just gives me a black screen with a small white box. Any ideas on how to fix that?

When you set OBS to run on the Intel, you lose game capture/window capture functionality. So you'll have to choose.

Ok, that makes sense. I'll just need to change the setting for OBS when I want to do monitor vs game.

Window capture isn't working at all though. Regardless of which card I have OBS running on, I get a black screen with a small white triangle when I try to perform window capture.
