Question / Help Low FPS in-game with Quick Sync.

I enabled the iGPU yesterday on my i5 4570, got everything to work without any problems. No problems with the drivers or anything. I started recording with OBS using the Intel HD Graphics 4600, it worked.. BUT, I'm getting low frame rates while I'm playing for some odd reason. The output file seems to be just fine, but when I play the fps goes down hard.

When I use my GTX 660 instead, I get crazy high frame rate in-game, but the output file looks "stuttery".

My PC specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: ADATA 8GB (2x4GB) CL9 1600MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte B85M-DS3H
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

Also worth mentioning:
I've chosen the integrated graphics share memory to be "512" ("64" was default, it ran even worse with that amount), and the DVMT memory is put on "MAX". And also, not sure if this is worth mentioning, but I've extended my main screen with the "virtual" Intel HD graphics screen. Because if I don't, the system doesn't even recognize the Intel HD graphics.

So all in all, I just want the output/stream to be smoother at 45 fps.

Edit #1 - Forgot to say that I actually tried installing the newest "Intel HD Graphics 4600" drivers from Intel's own site, but those drivers made my screen go black. So I reverted back to the drivers that I got on a CD when I bought the CPU and Motherboard.

Well, you should not run OBS on the iGPU. It should keep using your nvidia graphics card.

For quicksync you normally just have to connect the "virtual" screen as you mentioned. Then you can get a great capture performance and use QuickSync to keep most load off your CPU.

NVENC is not meant for streaming and the quality is definitely worse, but be aware, QuickSync is also not on par with the quality of a normal x264 encoding (that runs on your CPU).

So make sure OBS runs on the nvidia chip and your performance should get better. If nothing seems to help, please show us a log file of your last tests:

SOLVED - Thanks! I guess I did it wrong to begin with then. It works just fine now, although I'm quite disappointed with the quality, expected more from the Intel HD graphics encoding. Oh well! Thanks for the help, my problem is solved. :)
