Question / Help Lagging in game while streaming

Hello,

I have a 30 down 5 up, streaming call of duty from my xbox one through obs on my computer. Im streaming at 720p30fps at a 3500 bitrate. Everytime i stream my teammates complain of me lagging and skipping on their screen, but i dont notice anything on mine most of the time. My latency in game skyrockets while i stream as well, but nothing on my speedtest on the computer indicates that, its literally just on my xbox. Is there anyway to stop this? I know most of the people i play with stream as well with the same upload speed, but dont seem to lag in game. A 5 upload should be fine to stream and play at the same time, but im finding it very hard for some reason. Any suggestions?

3500 Kbps is excessive for 720p30 and is probably causing buffering for your viewers, which simply means they aren't able to get the data from Twitch as fast as you're sending it out. There is technically nothing "wrong" with your stream but if you aren't partnered then you would probably do better to stream at 2000-2500 Kbps instead to reduce the amount of buffering some viewers may experience.

You could also disable downscaling and change your base resolution to 1280x720 since that's all your Elgato outputs, but that doesn't have anything to do with your original question.

Yeah i understand that makes sense, but the people who watch my stream arnt the ones who are lagging, the people im actually playing with in game are telling me im lagging on their screen. For instance, in search and destroy when my teammates dies and spectate me they tell me im skipping when im not on my own screen. Also, ive noticed my latency fluctuates on my network statistics on xbox while i stream. Even when i lower my bitrate the same thing happens, and i lag on other peoples screens while in game which doesnt make any sense to me. It seems like the only network problems im having are on the xbox while i stream, but my computer and my connections on my computer are fine.

Try enabling the Minimize Network Impact option under Settings > Broadcast Settings. If that doesn't work then try lowering your bitrate (which you really should do anyway).

ive done both and even minimized network impact while having my bitrate at 2000-2500 but i still seem to lag on other peoples screens, and have high latency issues on xbox one, and it only seems to happen when i stream. Im hardwired to my modem as well with my computer and xbox so i dont see what the issue would be with my latency and lagging issues.

Could it have something to do with being hardwired into my modem? What if i had a good router? Would it share the bandwidth better than being hardwired to the modem? Like i should be able to play, and stream at 3500 bit rate with a 5 upload without getting lag on my end right?
