Question / Help I know there are a hundred black screen posts...

But i have done what i think a serious assessment/job at getting it to work. And im ready to see what everyone else thinks. I use an AMD Alienware to stream, and the game and stream both run perfectly smooth, no bumps anywhere. When i play in windowed mode, it streams no matter what. Fullscreen not so much.

So i went into my Switchable Graphics control center, since i indeed have both high performance and power-saving, and the games i want to run full screen are naturally all High Performance. No problem. Just set obs.exe to High Performance aswell, should be fine.

(a little background, i usually just stream my desktop feed and my webcam feed, but i also have sources to load the games as they appear in my Sources box.)

Now not only does my desktop feed go black, with just the webcam box and the cursor remaining, no games load or are shown. Swap obs.exe to Power-Saving, same thing. Reset it to unassigned, my desktop feed reappears. Tried running obs as admin, still the black screen problem for all settings except unassigned.

Any help out there? i can post specs or images as needed.

*EDIT: i tried all the idea for Nvidia and AMD cards in the Developer's post above in the stickies and none worked, so im making a post for it.*

OK so update. Alot of tinkering. I got it to broadcast, at least, haven't tried fullscreen yet.

So i went into The Secret World and set it to windowed, but my fullscreen resolution. Closed it completely, right clicked my desktop and opened my Configure Switchable Graphics panel, but didn't use it. Started OBS in admin mode and started my stream (still just desktop and webcam) and then opened the graphics panel and set OBS to high performance and applied it. Didn't restart anything. Opened The Secret World and people can indeed see my stream.

I realize this is pretty big but does anyone know of a possibly more secure or less steps required method?

I haven't tried in fullscreen as im pretty sure that would require me to use the source for the game and im not sure if that would also load in the same graphics processor.

Any input is very welcome.

Spamming my own thread, but just updates. Tried fullscreen, with just desktop feed and with a TSW source running, just the black box, audio and cursor still worked perfectly, covered over the webcam, though,

Just to make sure, when playing games in fullscreen mode, you're using Game Capture instead of Window Capture, right?

Set OBS to use your high performance graphics controller so that the game shows up, and then on any black screens like desktop window captures, go to their properties and enable Compatibility Mode.

Does that help?
