Question / Help Has anyone managed to stream 1080p PS4 footage?

Hi guys,

I'm using an Elgato with OBS and a PS4 console, and I can't figure out how to get 1080p capture to work. I'm reading so many mixed opinions on the matter, and just want to know definitively, is this possible?

As far as my Elgato is concerned it's sending a 1080p picture. Same for my PS4. It's just in OBS, it doesn't offer a 1080p resolution, it's more or less locked at 720p. And then when you try to modify by clicking "Custom Resolution" and inputting a resolution of 1920x1080 the program freezes and crashes.

Am I doing something wrong, or does it just not support 1080p from these devices?

There is a bug with OBS and the Elgato that prevents you from streaming above 720p. It should be fixed in the OBS rewrite, but for now you'll just have to live with 720p capture on the Elgato.

Okay, thanks for the info, and good to know it's being worked on. Do you know if there's any kind of timeframe for this rewrite?

I don't know when that particular fix will be added. It's still undergoing quite a bit of ongoing development. And early alpha should be out in a few months. You can follow it here: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-redux.7736/
