Hello!
I've got quite the problem with my install of OBS Studio (32.1.2). Whenever I try to record gameplay of rust my OBS freezes and stops working. The preview window still shows gameplay and is updated however the recording timer stops. Whenever I try to interact with OBS when its in this state it triggers a "not responding" action, and completetly stops working. The annoying part is whenever this happens it also brings windows file explorer with it. So the only way to get my pc back is by doing a hard reset. I've tried searching for any solutions without success. I've tried a number of solutions using AI-Agents (urgh) without success.
And to reiterate this ONLY happens when playing Rust, other games such as Ready or Not, Forza Horizon 6, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Sea of Theives, Squad and others are not affected.
"Solutions" I've tried include:
Switching from Game capture to Display Capture.
Fresh scene with only display capture.
Reinstalling OBS Studio
Reinstalling Rust
Updating Windows
Updating GPU Drivers.
Running OBS as Admin.
Disabling any other overlays (Nvidia overlay, Steam overlay, Discord Overlay)
Disabling HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling)
Tried all encoders in OBS.
Deactivating MPO (Multi-Plane Overlay)
Forcing V-sync to off for OBS.
Changing processor affinity.
Moving the recording location to a different drive.
Changing from MP4 to MKV.
Setting B-Frames to 0.
Again some of those "solutions" have been hallucinated by AI so I dont know how relevant they are.
I've tried to get a log file from OBS however given the nature of the crashes none are generated/saved.
My system specs are the following:
Ryzen 7 9800x3d.
96GB DDR5 (6000mhz)
RTX 5080.
OS, OBS and games installed on M.2 SSDs.
Screen I'm trying to record is a 3440x1440 Ultrawide.
Any help is appreciated.
