An i5 isn't going to be able to handle 1080p@30fps on x264 Veryfast, especially while gaming (and extra-especially while simming). Follow the guide above, it'll also get you higher quality recordings too. Then you can use Handbrake or another re-encoder to compress the high-rate video down to something suitable for archiving or storage.
You might wanna try out "Nvidia nvenc" as the encoder. That should reduce the heavy load of your cpu.Has anyone had a chance to review the log at all?
