Question / Help Game running at 60 fps but OBS not capturing 60 FPS

Hello

I'm having an issue where OBS preview is showing my video capture device (Avermedia lite gl310 capturing a regular PS4) running at 30 FPS or a framerate lower than 60 fps when it should be capturing at 60 fps. The GL310 can at least capture 60 FPS at 720p which is what my settings are at in OBS.

I'm using NVENC encoding and my PC specs are:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
i5-4690 3.50 ghz
8gb ram
GTX 970 4 GB

I am streaming at a bitrate of 3500 with canvas and output resolution set to 720p on OBS Studio 64 bit v 24.0.3

I have my PS4 hooked up to my primary monitor and have OBS up on a 2nd monitor. The game im playing is running 60 fps but the preview in obs and therefore the stream (or a local recording) are seeing it at 30 fps. When using the RE Central capturing software that comes with the avermedia, I was able to capture a video of the game running at 60 fps. When recording from OBS, the video file said 60 FPS but was clearly running at 30. Additionally, when i opened OBS, RE Central was no longer able to capture my PS4 and instead tried to display a glitchy fragment of my monitor. It continued to have this issue even after OBS closed. I'm not sure if the Avermedia Stream engine, OBS, or the capture card are the problem.

I'm not sure if the attached log files are the correct ones so I included the earlier timestamp one from the stream today and the latest one, I did some local recordings so they might be from that, but either way the same issue persists during a stream or during a local recording.

I have tried setting the properties of the video capture device to custom (it defaults to 60 fps anyway) but it didn't alter the preview nor the local recordings or stream.
I hope I included all the necessary information. Thank you for your time.

It looks to me like OBS is saying your capture device is misconfigured or failing:

I don't know, but that log shows that same device failing even at 480p60. What happens if you try 720p30? Basically for any HD capture you want USB3 anyway.

Okay so setting my PS4 output to 720p fixed my issue. The preveiw and stream now run at 60 fps. It seems like adding my capture card to OBS, and NOT the Avermedia Stream Engine, meant it was grabbing the native 1080 60 signal from the PS4 - therefore my capture card was downscaling it to 30 fps regardless of my settings.

This can be marked as solved or answered now. I'm not sure why the log showed my card having so many issues but ill add it here anyway just to see how it looks.

And thanks Narcogen!
