Question / Help Friends can't watch my stream.

Hi!
Im new to streaming and new to OBS.
I stream at 1080p 30fps using 3000bitrate and 3000buffersize with CBR enabled..
I usually play SMITE and wow.
My comp: i7 4770k, 16gb ram, radeon 6990.. connection: 100/10 mbit

So the issue is as follows: Ive asked around with my friends for feedback on stream performance and 80%(about 5ppl) of them can't even load the video. Some was able to but it was buffering so much it was unwatchable. and for 1-2 it was working fine.
Am i doing something wrong here? is there any fix to this?
I want to get viewers but if 80% of them cant even load the video its going to get rough :)

Please get back to me asap. If u need a logfile(please tell me how to get it if i need it) or whatever.

Town drunk
Buffering means the viewers can't receive the data from Twitch fast enough. The only way to resolve this is to lower bitrate. You will also likely want to lower the resolution as well.

edit: Well, that only holds true if you aren't dropping frames. Will need to see a log for further details.

Heres yesterdays log. Tried to change some settings to tweak it but people still were having issues watching it.
Edit: im not dropping frames in game or something like that so my processor can handle it i think. Also this logg says i was using 4k bitrate. was just trying out diffrent stuff. Its back at 3k now still the same issue

Well, you are only dropping 0.5% of frames, and a lot of that was probably due to your slow scene changes. That can probably be resolved by making your webcam a global source and lowering it's resolution.

However, that's not enough dropped frames to cause noticeable issues, so it just seems like whoever is watching can't pull data from the Twitch servers fast enough. This unfortunately means you have to keep lowering bitrate until it stops. That's really the only solution.

Could you please tell me how to make the cam a global source? its on 720p right now
Edit: About buffersize what do you suggest i keep that at?
One more thing, if i lower my resolution on the stream to 720p will i be able to increase bitrate?

There's a button on the main interface called "global sources" click that and add your cam from there then delete your old cam source from the scene and recreate it as a global source (add>global source).

As for the rest of your settings i would suggest downscaling to 720p at 30fps and use a bitrate of 2000. You might want to use a slower x264 cpu preset ("faster" "fast" or "medium") to preserve a little more quality at that bitrate.

Thanks Hilalpro, but do you think lowering my resolution and using a slower cpu preset is going to change the fact that people are unable to watch? Im not good at this stuff :D

Not exactly, but what should help is the 2000 kbps bitrate you would be using which will require only a bit over 2mbps (twitch bandwidth) to watch over a long period of time. The rest of the settings are roughly just an adaptation to that bitrate.

Ok, cool what about the buffersize?
SMITE is a game with lots of movement just like wow. Is 720p 30fps gonna be enough?
Does the cpu preset make the quality of the stream better if its "faster" instead of "medium"?

Test your settings and see how the visual quality looks.. There's games where 2000 kbps bitrate just wouldn't cut it for 720p and at that point you'll have to downscale further to reduce pixelization. The preset "medium" should look a little bit better at the same bitrate but it does require alot more CPU Processing time compared to "faster".
