Encoder crashing mid stream / pc becoming sluggish the longer i'm live

was even able to fully kill it a bit after this. (same scene collection)

Stinks, it may be hardware failure.

Try lowering that refresh rate to 120. If it still crashes, go to 60.
alright well its not looking good, set my game to 60 fps, my monitor to 60 hz and its still happening, ofc i'm forcing it to happen by quickly tabbing between obs and the game but its still happening. https://obsproject.com/logs/4lOTSbSUnnCNYbNe :(

Edit: the only real way i can see that can resolve this possibly is a clean windows reinstall, a very extensive pc clean and last btu not least buying a new gpu :/ if you have any other suggestions other then these i'm happy to try it!

It's crashing & there's no encoding going on, just the capture. Have you tried a different game/source?
i streamed darksouls 3 and i was having some issues there as well but not to this extend game would just start lagging after 3 hours of stream so encoder seemed to have just been leaking something and overloading, but no crashes there. The reason i'm doing this with Dead By Daylight is because its the game i stream 2/3 times a week. i just checked with battelfield 6 wich is a lot heavier then dbd and it still happens all at 60 clean scene collection https://obsproject.com/logs/bIwlnpsJzoVPYJBx

Looks like you're still running W10, like me. I won't update but I wonder if something is up with the OS & current driver?

Anyway, I'm still running driver 566.36 with my 3090. That was the last driver before the 5000 series was released.

I think it's toast but keep trying....

Here's a good troubleshooting tool. Both CPU & GPU benchmarks that will push them to their limits.

i might try downgrading to 566.36 in a second then might do the trick altho i still think its more of a windows install issue or hardware.

It's vetted that's for sure.

Current Up Time with no crashes...

It's it, W10. Matches the file I have.

wow, insane turn of events, the driver seems to have fixed it all. I went back to my regular scene collection, 120 fps game, 170 hz monitor. continuously tabbed in and out even played some games (so more stress on the gpu) and it doesn't crash at all. i haven't checked while encoding since i'm kinda scrapped for time rn and i cant do a 3-4h test stream to see if it works in the long term but it seems to have been resolved as far as i can see. even tabbing out itself feels more responsive. Thank you so much for your time and effort in helping me out, i find it kinda strange this worked because i went back a few driver version as well before and that didn't actually fix it. super strange (or nvidia trying to sell me on one of those 1k+ gpus lmao). Ill do a final update once i get to fully test everything with encoding on Monday or Tuesday. Again huge shout out to you for helping me out so much bless you!

YW! Yeah, that driver is as stable as it gets. My rig has been running non-stop for almost 9 months now. OBS, Vegas, Avidemux, Sound Forge all have been used extensively during that time.
