Elgato HD 60 pro slow desync

I believe i do but im not plugging the switch into it, im using OBS fullscreen projector to view it on a monitor without having to have 2 connections on it. it is active but not default device
  • Ok what I want you to do is disable every audio source in settings
  • Make sure each bar says "Disabled" and nothing else.
  • Add each audio input/output manually to just your main screen, dont worry about the rest of them yet.
    • So it should be
      • Elgato as a Video capture device (Which thats not gonna be in audio settings anyways)
      • Audio Input Capture for your Mic and set that to whatever it is
      • Audio Out Capture for your Desktop Audio, this should be your internal speakers
      • Game Capture HD60 Pro 1 for the video choice
      • No filters, monitoring nothing. And if you have other sources that are suppose to be on this screen dont worry about it right now. so turn off monitoring for streamlabs as well.
      • Make sure as you add each Audio to uncheck "Use Device Timestamps"
  • Switch Elgato Audio to Direct Output
This is just for testing purposes, because I do have a solution for you. I just want to test everything barebones becaues I cant physically look at your computer so I dont know what all factors are involved. But do a test stream with this and get back to me, its not gonna stay this way

So everything in settings disabled and then go to sources and add all that?

Did all that and the elgato audio meter is not moving its only desktop audio. Guess we will see what happens in 2 hours. Im not holding my breath...

ok keep me updated
I don't bloody believe it, 1 hr 50 minutes in no desync... It seriously cant be just because i have my settings on Desktop Audio default and Mic/Aux default? Made a separate scene for this test by the way kept it less cluttered. Might try it with the main scene but whats next?

No that is seriously what it is, im not entirely sure what the explanation is, it might be the hdmi audio, from the switch specifically i heard of that causing issues. Sometimes switching the monitor to Game Mode helps, but usually thats just for TVs. So you you can try changing the audio settings on the switch itself, try automatic or stereo or maybe lowering to 44.1khz for sound instead of 48 if you just wanted to test those while switching back to Capture Audio Only.
How is your monitor hooked up to your PC? Display port, hdmi? is the headset usb, or 3.5, what is it hooked up to?

PC is connected via Display port, My switch only goes into my Elgato nothing else, I dont have another cord going out to my other monitor to play it directly like that if thats what your asking (pretty sure i mentioned i was playing via OBS full screen projector window). When i was talking about settings i meant OBS settings under audio -> Devices i still had them under as default for Desktop audio and Mic/aux audio
My headset is an Audio technica ADG1x which is a single 3.5mm jack headset but i also got the USB DAC that came with it so its in via a USB on the front of my PC.
On the switch its just set to stereo nothing else mentioned there.

is it hooked up with the usb or just the 3.5? And are both monitors display port?

Can you adjust your audio on your headset? no from the pc on your actual headset
Yes but i dont like to do that. Had to get it replaced once because messing with it at the time meant i had to keep it in a specific position or it would favour one ear over the other and im trying to make sure that doesnt happen again.

Well you're gonna have to compromise somewhere as far as volume control separately, so either through windows or the headset with that kind of setup. I suggest getting a mixer, or mixamp (I use this personally) or gettings a hdmi extractor to hook up optical audio, which is the more inexpensive way. I used this method as well. If you have a separate mic you can hook the headset up to the monitor itself. Getting another HDMI and hooking it up to the other monitor to game on would probably fix the issue as well since everything would be going through the Elgato and not relying on OBS.

Like I said if you wanted to test 44.1khz vs 48khz and see if thats a thing, maybe try a different PCI slot. You can also try a "Line-In" audio setup, the refresh rate of the monitor is higher than 60hz, I found this http://ltroyalshrimp.com/how-to-use-a-144hz-monitor-and-the-elgato-hd60-pro-at-the-same-time/ cause i knew the pro was special in that sense. NOTE: make sure your Nvidia drivers are up to date, since you said Elgato doesnt show up under sound options that could be a problem. Uninstalling all the all the Elgato drivers manually then fresh reinstall afterwards might be useful as well. I don't know what your old capture card was, but if it was elgato maybe older drivers affecting the new? Thats just something I would check. Lowering your encoder to faster might help.

Thats the thing with audio, so many different factors can affect it and its the most complicated thing when it comes to streaming in particular. But like I said you can't be picky with this kind of setup. I knew the desktop thing would work which is why I suggested it before. I found this video afterwards thats doing the same thing as you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao1RN0CjBEU. Compromises would only be temporary tho

It's my first capture card, had nothing else before then, Nvidia drivers are up to date. I'm looking for a spare HDMI cable i might have had and will be trying that i think i got a long one somewhere so i might be able to connect it to a TV and just see what happens. I don't want to buy more than necessary which is why i havent considered a mixer/mixamp or a separate mic yet. Elgato requested some logs but considering its weekend im going to have to wait until next week to hear anything from them but its pretty bloody dumb that a gradual de-sync will happen just because i want to be able to control the audio on OBS mixer instead of relying on something like direct sound where it all comes through the desktop.

Yeah i know, its probably some factor that doesnt seem related at all, reason i brought up the monitor refresh rate, nvidia, switch setting etc. Mixamp is a very necessary purchase, if i could recommend anything it would be that. Full on mixers arent unless everything you want requires that. Having two mics is mostly beneficial if you play with people, outside that you can go without. The Hdmi extractor would be your best bet tho if you want cheap, like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B017B6...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== You can probably find a cheaper one but thats the one i have, and with having this you'll always have multiple sources that can produce the same audio. So even though there can be work arounds with having the minimum it'll save you a whole lot of trouble while giving you the control you want, regardless of where the audio is coming from.

I'm only stressing on it because I was in the same boat before. I didn't have much help, or knowledge for that matter, when it came to stuff like this. Also not wanting to spend more than I had to. So I'm just saying from experience it's more than worth it, especially for console play. But yes it would be nice if Elgato did, or does, have a more direct solution for the desyncing.
