Question / Help Dual PC - With Avermedia

Hello, i need help in configuring my setup. It's as the title says. I bought an Avermedia Live Gamer HD C985 - Like a year ago and i've recently picked up another PC so i'll be able to stream from that one without losing performance on my main computer so to say.

I'm not really sure what i've done wrong. But i'll write below here what i've done so far, and my quality really sucks on so there is definately something wrong with my settings.

From my 2nd pc i got a HDMI from the Avermedia to my main PC's graphics-card. This is the only connection these two have, is this right or wrong?

Also i've just duplicated my screens(main and avermedia) and it seems like there is something wrong with the resolution and it dosen't feel like it's 60 fps either when i stream.

What i've done in OBS is that i've chosen these settings.

Rightclick on sources > Video Capture Device > Avermedia HD capture C985

In the Video section it of the capture card it says 1280x720 at 60.0002 FPS which is what i want to stream at.

In the OBS itself i have Custom resolution set at 1280x720 at 60 FPS. Since from what i'v read these two should be the same as eachother.

My main monitor is the 120hz benq screen at 1920x1080 resolution.

If specs are required feel free to ask and i'll write my computer specs from both computers.

Well, the cable is normally going from your Main PC's graphic card output, to the input of the Live Gamer HD. (The output of the LG HD stays empty if you clone your monitors). Now you mention your main monitor has 120fps, did you set the output to the LG HD to 60fps? By default, with cloned monitors, it would probably receive 120 from your GPU.
Apart of that your configuration sounds ok, but to know your settings please post us a log:

I've been trying but i can only come to the same conclusion, There is something wrong with the resolutions and nor does it feel like 60fps when i watch my stream, when i put it up to 720p it's about 60% of the OBS screen, then i have to drag it out to 100% which makes the quality really bad..

This is a picture of how the quality looks http://3.ii.gl/TGU4TE-d.png as you can see it's really bad. It's a screenshot of my taken with my OBS on fullscreen and while im watching another stream on twitch, but as you can see this is clearly not 720p, you cant even read the text almost..

You can't clone screens at different resolutions. Framerates yes, resolutions no. So if you're cloning a 1920x1080 screen, the cloned version of it will also be 1920x1080. Set OBS's base resolution to 1920x1080 and use a 1.5 resolution downscale.

Also, you can try it with the Avermedia software first, just to make sure its working. If it works for that software, it should be possible to make it work in OBS.

i've tried that, it's still some strange resolution. im using 1920x1080 and downscaling it to 720p with the 1.5 and it's not even close to true 720p, i've also firmware updated and installed the latest reccentral and when im trying to stream with recentral it just crashes with the latest update

Have you tried setting your display to 1920x1080 and then just clone it to the avermedia? It shouldn't appear as 1024x768 in windows.

My display is at 1920x1080, and yes i clone it with the avermedia and, i'll take 3 pictures to clarify:

Step 1: Monitor + Avermedia - http://2.ii.gl/1MKP-pwE.png
Step 2: Duplicating my main monitor and Avermedia - http://3.ii.gl/Ld2vy9F-.png
Step 3: End result - http://1.ii.gl/WN5a2iLU.png

It does not appear as 1024x768 but from what i see if i downscale my own monitor to 1024x768 it is the same size as the Avermedia in that windows function. Which seems strange.

Hello,

i don't want to start a new topic since this thread is nearly the same issue i have.

i stream with a dual-pc-setup. but i have the same problem... i simply don't see smooth 60fps in my stream. but sometimes, only sometimes it looks like real 60fps i think.

here's an example
#1 BF4 - ingame 1920x1080
http://www.hitbox.tv/video/302165

#2 BF3 - ingame 1280x720
http://www.hitbox.tv/video/302160

the streaming pc is nothing special:
CPU i7 3770 (3,4)
8GB
Avermedia Live Gamer HD
Preset fast
Bitrate 4000kb

While streaming CPU doesn't go to 100%. maybe ~70% max 80%
Also tried faster preset. but there are no changes. only the quality of stream is lower.

Maybe anyone got some hints? :)

Best Regards

We have almost the same setup.
Here are some screenies of my settings in Avermedia Rec and OBS.
The Rec center settings are for the Capture and Streaming options.

For whatever reason, I had to manually set the resolution and fps in my obs for my C985. Otherwise it would output to a weird 1280x800.
