Delayed and scrambled Audio in stream and recording, using Discord

I was trying to record and stream a podcast eps. My audio was delayed and after a while it started making a horrible sound like a scream from the pits of hell. Then went back to just delayed for a min or two, then it kept on making the horrible noise again. It did not record the sound from the other participant either. I tried out the equipment before and after and I had no problem at all.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? And what in the name of ... could have caused this?

I had delayed audio using discord. I was using the application specific audio source or whatever it's called for my friend to be on stream. At one point there was a delay on my friends part by up to 30 seconds. OBS was showing when he talked properly through the audio monitor but on stream it wasn't even close. No filters or anything like that. My game play was set up the same way using the application specific audio source and was fine no delay. I think it's something to do with discord at the moment maybe? I restarted discord while streaming and ended up bringing the delay down to about four or five seconds but still not ideal. No fix yet but wanted to let you know you aren't the only one getting delay with discord.
