Question / Help CPU Causes Lag!

Hello there, I have come across this forum and was hoping to gather some help towards my recording/livestream issue. When ever i record on OBS at the start it all seems to be fine. Then, about 5-8 minutes into it my CPU goes to 100% and begins to make the stream/video lag. Does anyone know how i can stop/prevent this from happening. I think it could of been because i left the obs program up on my screen on quite a large resolution, meaning the video on that caused the recording to lag?
