Question / Help Camera not working in OBS Studio?

Will try.. I noticed that my cam doesn't work with any program (skype etc..) so it must be some problem with drivers.. except the led in front of camera is on.

@Metzi when adding the same source through the scenes - choose Add Existing. Just remove your second camera source and add it again but select Add Existing (not Create new).

Suslik - using Add Existing is not practicable for streamers of multiple games - quite often the webcam view needs to be in different positions in the output window so as to not cover the games' GUI's.

(Yes, I'm having the same issue with the webcam failing to operate in OBS unless I completely reboot the computer and open OBS as the first app and directly into the stream config I intend to use - makes OBS kinds pointless for streamers that handle multiple games or topics per day or per stream. This also only started about a month ago with OBS Studio ... around the time of the 20.0.1 update).

i don't know if anyone fixed this yet, but i found a solution for it ,
i had the same issue as well upon buying my new camera, which is better than my old one, 720P HD, it worked fine on skype and on webcam test websites, however on OBS it kept giving me this GRAY screen similar to what you have above, i looked everywhere for a solution including here, didn't find any, so i decided to mess around with the settings, turns out, the output size from the webcam was somehow larger than the output obs perhaps has defined by default, so what i did was go to the options of the video capture change Resolution/FPS type to custom, and then i set it to 1280/720 and right after doing so, there was no more gray and i could see the preview of the camera.
i hope this was helpful, i actually made an account just to share this with you guys .

Hello, I am having a problem connecting my Logitech C922 webcam to OBS 21.1.0 (64bit, windows). I have a windows 10 64-bit system. The webcam works fine on geforce experience as well as the webcam test i used for the browser, yet OBS and xsplit both cannot seem to find my webcam. Sometimes my webcam will not even show up as an option under devices. But when it does, initially both the FPS and Video Format option are in red. What I do is I click on "C922 Pro Stream Webcam", next I go down to "Resolution/FPS Type" and I choose "Custom". Then I go down to "Resolution" and choose 1920 x 1080. At this point, the "FPS" and "Video Format" option are no longer in red. Then, I choose "Match Output FPS (autoselect: 30)" under "FPS". Finally, I choose "Any" under "Video Format". I have also tried this while choosing MJPEG and still no luck. I press "OK" and nothing shows up. I go back into "Video Capture Device" and "Device", "FPS", and "Video Format" are all in red and I cannot change them. Please help, I have been trying to figure this out for a couple hours and I don't know what to do.

Hello everyone,

I am having this problem and I have tried all the solutions I can find. I change my resolution and video format, I dont have bitdefender installed, I have uninstalled and reinstalled OBS. No matter what I try my camera will not show up in OBS, however it is working in every other application I have. I'm using Windows 10 64bit with OBS studio 64 and a Logitech C920 1080p camera.

OK, so I found a fix but because I'm a nitwit I might be only referring to myself:

I use Win 10 Pro (although this may also work in Win 10 Home) and am setting up a new PC. When trawling the list of services to disable I rather stupidly disabled the Windows Camera Frame Server. It seemed fairly innocuous at the time, but I shot myself in the foot.

To check if it's enabled, Win+R to open the run prompt and type MSCONFIG. Under the services tab, just scroll down to see if the Windows Camera Frame Server box is ticked. If it isn't... then tick it and restart the computer.

After that, restart OBS and remove any existing camera sources (because when OBS makes a source out of a camera it can't see it gives in a height and width of 0 - which doesn't help anyone. Re add the source and see if it works.

Seems like i have the same problem as crackalackin

Obs doesn't see the cam. Win 10. C 270 logitech. Frames and Video format red. Nothing helps. Log:
