Question / Help cam problem

Hello all

So i have been using xsplit for a long of time and recently turned to OBS and found it pretty much even or even better to stream with. However, there is a problem going on with my cam Microsoft Lifecam HD-3000. Below I'm posting 2 screenshots of the cam output (both taken in the same night), one from xsplit and one from OBS.

xsplit's

obs's

For some reason as you can see at OBS the lighting is not right (like i have no monitor in front of me) whereas xsplit's is normal, as it should be (checked also with skype and it's like that). The settings of the cam are the same for both xsplit and OBS, since it's the cam's own settings. I'm using latest OBS version and latest cam driver. Any idea what might be wrong and how to fix is appreciated (imo it can be a bug of the OBS?). Thank you in advance.

btw sorry if i posted in the wrong forum, if a mod could move it that would be great. I would like also to add that I reinstalled the driver of the cam, removed the cam from all scenes and re-added and nothing worked so far. I'm really troubled what it might be. Looking forward to your replies.

Yep tried everything. Didn't affect almost at all the video output of the cam. Maybe just a slight brightness.

Well, if I rightclick on my cam(inside obs) > Properties > "Configure" - My webcam settings pop up and I can set the brightness manually from there.

I guess most webcams have that option :)

Yes, his point is that the configuration stays the same between XSplit and OBS, and OBS appears to be using a much lower exposure/gain setting with the received signal for some reason than XSplit does.

What happens when he opens the configuration from OBS?

I'm not sure what exactly is going on here such that your camera is not automatically setting exposure/white balance/contrast etc. correctly. Normally that's something the camera does on its own from my experience, without having to enter the options manually.

I get the exact same window but when I go to "configure" it's the settings of the microsoft lifecam hd-3000 , which is the same for both xsplit and obs because it's the cam's settings. I have done many changes such as set contrast to 0 and brightness to maximum but there isn't any big change at the output.

I think FerretBomb made a good point of what might be going on.

This configuration problem with certain devices isn't new -- I can't say for absolutely certain because for many people it doesn't happen, but I am thinking it's a bug with OBS' directshow code somewhere. Problem is I don't have a device that does it so I may end up buying one -- if any of you haven't posted a log, please tell me what specific device models you use (or link to them on amazong), especially if it has this problem bad.

The only webcam I currently have is a C920 which works fine unfortuantely

Okay, I ordered one. I also ordered a roxio too while I was at it because I need one of those as well.

I actually did get the cam. I haven't tested it yet because I'm constantly distracted with other things

Yes, that's not the issue. The issue is that between two programs using the same camera settings, OBS is showing a significantly darker picture with the video stream sent to it.
