Question / Help bitrate suggestions?

So do you guys have an prescribed settings for a 2-2.5 Mbps upload speed? Also does NVENC offload the encoding to the GPU, or how does that work exactly?

Alright, are there any good comparisons for x264 vs NVENC? And any suggested resolutions for those bitrates(1300-1600)?

Well If you go with NVENC you should generally expect lower quality than this of x264. It all depends on your computer actually...

Do you have an NVIDIA card capable of using NVENC? The best way to compare is to test for yourself. At 1300-1600 Kbps I'm not sure you'll get acceptable output from NVENC without a lot of downscaling, but that will depend both on the content you're recording/streaming and personal preference.

I have a GTX 760, so yes. It's an option but i've never tried to stream with it. I have a 1080p monitor that I downscale to 720p with the Lanczos filter. Not sure if 1300-1600 bitrate is enough to support 720p though.

Under h264 it is. Under NVENC, probably not.

The "golden point" for non-partnered streamers is 720p, 30fps, and 2000kbps. Bare minimum for 720@30 is around 1500 though.

I was guessing that since my cpu is ok for gaming but has issues at times with encoding + the game like playing Planetside 2 that offloading the encoding to the GPU would be good. For context here I have a FX 6300. It's not bad at all for gaming, and i'm not trying or wanting to start a flame war.
