My bitrate:

I tried setting my upload according to that, but I still get quite a bit of lag. Are there any specific settings I should try? I don't need it to be HD quality or anything fancy, just viewable. I mostly play League of Legends.

I used this exact guide before, but got lag nonetheless. it seems I don't get lag if I lower to 750 kbps, but then the quality suffers. what I'm looking for is other settings that really minimize lag, without lowering the bitrate below 1000 kbps. is that possible?

If you're getting high ping, that means your stream and the game are competing too much for your internet connection. First try enabling "Minimize Network Impact" in Broadcast Settings, and if that still doesn't help, try lowering the bit rate that you are streaming at.

I have that enabled. My bitrate should, according to my upload, be good enough for like 1500 kbps according to that guide, but I get laggy there, even on 1000. ~750 kbps seems to be the right area for me. Are the other settings I can have, for example, which type of audio encoding (AAC or MP3) and audio bitrate, CBR padding on or off, etc.?

You can ignore the 16:9 warning. It's really more just advice.

I think your settings are fine for low bandwidth. You can play around with things more and see what looks good if you want.
