Re: audio problems,desync ?

I've never had problems with OBS crashing. I don't really have any trick for that other than just tapping the checkbox, sorry :P

RapidV: I mean double clicking the checkbox next to your LGP stream engine on the sources list right there next to the scenes list... Sorry it doesn't fix it for you though.

Rizl4: Neither LGP nor the LGP stream engine appears on the playback devices list for me. Not when I tell it to display disabled devices either :/
I do use the LGP as stream audio, as well as desktop muted. Didn't realise I had any other option (Other than getting it to display in said playback devices list I guess)

Edit: Above made me want to try out audio out which may fix the desynch, but... 1) audio quality felt a tiny bit worse. 2) I can't use my mic (audio in doesn't seem to register it's sound at all...) and 3) the initial synch up seems to fluctuate the offset isn't always the same :/
In short I didn't even want to test if it worked in the end.

You will have to use the EPG stream audio or you will get sync problems

Re: audio problems,desync ?

I noticed something interesting while trying to do some testing today. Whenever I show/hide a window, the framerate drops (despite cpu usage remaining low enough - less than 20-25%). So I went ahead and just repeatedly opened/closed a window for a few mins and tested how it would affect the recording in OBS and sure enough the audio would fall behind the video.

It may have been something that came with the newest OBS update though since i've never noticed this before and I also streamed with a dazzle for months without problems before getting this capture card. I *do* always browse the web and stuff during specific cutscenes in my game though so maybe this is the cause? I hope i'm wrong though lol.

Re: audio problems,desync ?

had a chat with a dev If you're using Xsplit, there's a way to delay the audio to synch in time with the video. This is a known issue...and will be dealt with when the Stream Engine will be integrated into the driver package.
so i guess it will be the same for obs

I'm not sure your issue is the same as the one we're talking about in this topic rizl... The audio isn't delayed at first. It just slowly lags behind - Today I left OBS running while I wasn't home (file output only) just recording a menu over and over. Started out in synch, but after 6 hours the video would be 4 seconds ahead of the audio.

Also let the stream engine record at the same time and there it's still perfectly in synch.

Just delaying the audio is perfectly possible in OBS as well, but since the audio is clearly running slow, that doesn't really fix anything.

I'm tempted to try and record the audio with my dazzle instead and see if that fixes it, but sadly I never used splitters (I used a switchable SCART instead), I would have to get those too to keep audio on my monitor as well. Maybe i'll try and run a test through amarec and see if that program handles the LGP stream engine better.

*double post*
I've had amarec run with the stream engine for an hour and a half now and it's still perfectly synchronized. I'll keep it running for a while and probably use it for my next stream to confirm that this could be a solution.

For people who don't know amarec, it's what I (and others) used for deinterlacing before OBS got its own deinterlacing options. Basically install that program (google it :P), and set it up with the LGP stream engine. Install and enable the live feature and then add amarec video capture as video capture device source in OBS.
It's a bit annoying to have to have this program running as well, but it doesn't use that much cpu and hey if it works then that's still better than getting desynchs.

Re: audio problems,desync ?

it must be obs problem xsplit is fine with 400ms audio delay it does not go out of sync
tested with xbox360

1 hr test on xsplit http://www.twitch.tv/thebloodzeed/b/481591995

the only prob is i have to turn the pc speakers on the capture pc down so i do not hear the feedback lol
because xsplit does not capture from the source..and the only sound its getting is from the usb device

any other way i can stream with xsplit and still run stuff on the capture pc without others hearing it etc
dunno why xsplit just cant use source audio like obs ;/

Re: audio problems,desync ?

I'll buy the device and check it out.

I'm wondering if I should start telling people asking about devices not to get USB 2.0 devices unless they have a laptop with only USB 2.0 ports. USB 2.0 capture devices are totally worthless to me at this point. They've caused me nothing but pain, grief, and suffering on multiple fronts.

If you have a desktop you should always get an internal card. If you have a laptop with USB 3.0 ports you should always get a USB 3.0 device (that have started only coming out recently unfortunately). USB 3.0 devices are actually superior to the internal cards surprisingly.

These USB 2.0 devices have seriously been so painful to deal with. They have built in delay, have to be decoded, half of them I still don't have working, it's just been pain and suffering. I bought a roxio and hauppauge but won't even be able to get them fully working until the rewrite just because of their god forsaken complexity in getting the damn things working,. USB 2.0 devices frustrate me to death.

It's funny, the elgato is like the "best" working USB 2.0 device, and even that one was like pulling teeth.
