Audio output issue with 32.0.1

I cannot get a log right now because the event is still streaming on another computer. We got complaints about no audio in the stream but the audio meter indicated input was OK and we had not changed anything except the update. We were not behind on updates so it was not a huge leap when we updated. We re-added the audio source and it came back for a bit. What had changed is that I went into the audio and changed from Monitor off to Monitor and output. After some tense back and forth it does seem like "monitor and output" no longer works. I ended up duplicating the audio source and on one copy I have monitor off and the other is monitor no output.

When I am able and not working an event, I will do more testing to confirm and add logs and some other details. I wanted to get this started though to see if anyone else had noticed this or could confirm already. Thank you.

I just recently discovered this issue as well on my live stream. It seems the "monitor and output" is treated as "monitor only (mute output)". I have to create "Audio Output Capture" in Sources so that one source is just monitor and the other output.

It's happening to me also, specially if the audio output is a browser source. The only way to the audio to be sent is if the streamer doesn't monitor the audio at all.

When v32 released there were two situations where this happened
1) You have your desktop audio set to monitor and output (should not be the case in 32.0.1)
2) You have turned your desktop audio all the way down instead of muting it, muting will fix in this case.

Let me know if this fixes your issues and post a log if you are still having trouble.

I am also having this issue but found a weird workaround.

I use virtual audio cables, one of which as a monitoring device called "Cable-D." If I have my monitoring device set to that, which it was prior to the update as well, the audio that is set to "monitor and output" will not output and only monitor. If I set it to a different monitoring device, "Cable-C," then it is successfully monitoring and outputting. Unsure if this is comparable to OP's situation, but this is what I've been experiencing.

Anyone know when this audio issue might be fixed? After reading some of the posts, I changed the audio to 'Monitor off' and there was sound for a while although with intermittent breakdown. I need to find a solution today for my live stream tomorrow AM. I don't really want to start again with another provider.

I did not get a chance to test again today. We will be running 2 live streams tomorrow morning and after that I will do a couple of test runs and post logs. I had 2 successfule streams after I reported initially. I duplicated the audo input and set one to monitor off and the other to monitor on no output. I am running a Windows. gaming laptop for OBS with Win 11. We run cameras and audio into an ATEM Mini which connects to the laptop over USB-C. The audio into the ATEM comes in over 3.5mm audio cable from our X32 mixer. There are separate devices in OBS for video and audio. I use headphones from the laptop to monitor the audio mix going to stream.

I just ran a test stream. I started with the "Audio Input Capture" set to Monitor Off. I observed from my stream monitor on the internet that audio was being sent. I changed the audio setting to monitor and output and adjusted the video so I could be certain when in the stream I made the change. At that time the audio was no longer in the stream. I put the setting back to Monitor off and adjusted the video again. At that point the audio reappeared in the stream.

I uploaded the log:

Earlier in this thread I mentioned the following:
Code:
2) You have turned your desktop audio all the way down instead of muting it, muting will fix in this case.

Is that the case here?

I also experience audio trouble after updating. "Monitor and Output" doesn't send audio but "Monitor Off" does. I'm downgrading until it's fix officially.

The situation I have described above in this thread twice is the only situation where this happens and simply muting or disabling your desktop audio device instead of just turning the volume slider all the way down fixes it.

It didn't work for me, the audio was not constant and cut out frequently. Do you know if I can I revert back to a previous update?

After updating to 32.0.1 on Windows 11 the "Audio-Monitor" plugin is not working anymore. I got a error-message that I had to remove and update this plugin. So I removed the specific .dll-file and data map.
Who cann help? The Plugin Manger in Tools only shows an empty Installed box. The other options (Browse and Updates) are greyed. And I cannot find a new audio-monitor-plug-in installation file on this site.

That's not the case. I have a browser sources that send audios to my stream (SE alerts and Triggerfyre). If I don't monitor, the audio is sent through OBS, but I can't hear it. If I set to "monitor and send", I can hear, but it's not sent and my viewers can't hear it. Before v32.0.1 it didn't happen. I downgraded to v31 and everything is fine now. Def is something with this version.

You'd need to send a log, if setting it to monitor and output causes the audio to not show up on the output it is being deduplicated/played through another source.

I am reading this thread trying to decide if my issue is this issue or something else. The short: I unmuted a source, the meters went from grayed out to color, but the audio did not unmute. When informed by a watcher, I muted the source and unmuted it again (with the meter going to gray and then back to color) and the audio was restored to the Livestream.

If unrelated, I will start a new thread.

This is a small but bad bug in that there is nothing on OBS (that I know of) that can monitor the actual stream audio output going to the server or the recording. Unless a watcher tells me, I am happily, and unknowingly, streaming a silent film.

I had this issue with web browsers not outputting sound to the stream after I updated to a 31.x.x version (specifically 31.0.1). I also reverted to 31.0.0 and still had the issue, seems to be a 31 introduced issue.

I do not use Desktop Audio, I have all tracks unchecked for it. Instead I control each audio individually for my entire setup (it complicates it and gives me more control). There are 3 browser sources that did not work properly after update. I think that is all the browser sources I use that have audio associated with them...
I normally have them set to Monitor and Output, which is what got borked! When I tested Monitor Off, and you can hear it on the stream output side just fine, but I won't hear the alerts live (which is the whole point). I tested with monitor only, and that worked as intended. It seems Monitor and Output simply doesn't output for me, it's basically another monitor only option. The funny thing is, the Audio Mixer will register that the web browser is playing a sound, and the audio does not output to the stream.

I reverted back to 31.1.2 and it worked flawlessly.
If you are also getting this issue, this was the simplest way to fix it, downgrading.

I'm new this, and have a post 'Monitor Audio from Techigher USB video source'. Maybe this thread applies. Worse case I may take one of the 2 audio channels and connect it to an amp/speaker. Or the level may be enough to be heard at a low level in a headset without reducing the level to to the Techigher device.
