Question / Help Attempting to stream Payday 2 - No video capture in Game Cap

Hello,

I am running Windows 8 on a desktop we recently built. It's not a laptop, so so far as I know the fix in the sticky does not apply. I did check the NVidia control panel anyway just in case, but in 3D Settings I was unable to find any dropdown menu that allowed me to add any filepath, whether for OBS or no.

We have successfully streamed Bioshock Infinite in Game Capture, but when I use the exact same scene+source to try and stream Payday 2 I get sound capture but no video.

Monitor capture does not work either as it captures my desktop successfully, but when I alt+tab into Payday 2, the video cuts out.

Windowed capture does work, the only issues are I prefer the performance in Game Capture, and that Payday 2 does not natively support no-border windowed mode so that messes with my aesthetic OCD.

Thank you for any help or advice, I really appreciate it, especially if I am just missing something obvious and need to be alerted to how dumb I'm being.

We need the full log file... that looks like a truncated one and is missing a LOT of data. Really do need the whole thing if that's just an excerpt.

Just as a side note, I stream Payday 2 regularly and use Game Capture for fullscreen. However, Overkill's coding is... wonky at best. They don't use a standard mouse capture (so I drag stuff all over my desktop while playing in fullscreen) and it can easily throw 'odd' issues where it'll drop to 2-5fps until you alt-tab out and back in again.

Sorry about that, thought that was the full log file. It was the full txt file for March 10 that I got from going to Help --> Log Files --> Open in folder. I'm at work atm, but when I get home today I'll re-read the howto sticky for nabbing the log files, attempt a stream again, and get that new log file for 3/11/14.

Here's better log attempt:

1.) Opened OBS, then opened Payday 2.
2.) Tried to preview stream, no dice. Hit Start stream anyway.
3.) Alt-tabbed into Payday 2 and started a gameplay session for about 2 minutes, then quit out to main menu.
4.) Alt-tabbed to OBS, hit Stop Streaming, and exited OBS to generate the log file.
5.) Quit Payday 2, opened OBS, navigated to Help-->Log Files-->most recent log-->View.

It's definitely failing to initialize, because that game capture log file was from days earlier than the actual log file. However, the game capture log file seems to indicate that you had it working. Perhaps you simply need to recreate the game capture source, and set it up again.

Thanks a million, I will try doing that. Question: should I be setting up a new scene and game capture source for every individual game I want to stream? I was using the same Scene and Source I created for streaming Bioshock Infinite because when I checked the Properties of the Source after I booted up Payday 2, the dropdown menu already had Payday populated rather than Bioshock Infinite. At that point I just assumed that Game Capture would work with any fullscreen game at that point, which in retrospect seems maybe a bit of a leap.

Thanks once more, I'll set up a new Scene and Game Capture source from scratch tonight.

It doesn't switch games automatically unless you use the hotkey functionality. You do indeed have to set it each time (which is honestly a design flaw on my part)

You can do this if you use the hotkey function for your game capture source. Alternately, I set up a new Source for every game I play (some require Game Cap, some need Window Cap, and it cuts down on figuring out/remembering which each game needs) then just uncheck all the ones I'm not actively using in the Sources list.
