Another "Output is pixelated when recording game" thread

Hi,

I know there is a bunch of threads relying such issue, I consulted quite a few before asking, but I'm a bit lost in my case. I didn't find my answer in them.

And I honestly don't know if you would be able to help, as I'm not sure it is something from OBS, or a limitation of my GPU's system somehow.

I used to use OBS on a laptop with a GTX 1060 and never any had issue with it. Recently I switched to a Lenovo (Legion 7 Pro - 83DE003PFR) with a RTX 4080, with a 2560x1600px screen.
I expected it to be even more performant (which it is) but OBS seems to struggle dealing with it. But I'm sure the computer has by far the specs to do it, as my old one was half has powerful, and recorded without any problem. So I don't think it can be a problem relative to: https://obsproject.com/forum/thread...ing-too-long-to-encode-read-this-first.23334/

When I record my screen on regular app like Firefox, an IDE, the file explorer, etc. there is no issue. But as soon as I try to record a game, it becomes extremly pixelated, as if the GCU tried to lower the quality of the output. You can check this video that demonstrates the issue : https://streamable.com/efsm64

You can see that, at first it is fine, then it becomes extremely pixelated when I switch to the game.
The log file I share here in attached files is the log corresponding to this same recording attempt.

I let OBS define the settings for me, I just changed the canvas size to match my screen size. The file "basic.ini" of my profile is also attached here to show these settings, I copied it elsewhere and renamed it to "obs_basic.ini.txt" to be able to upload it here.

Any idea how I can fix that?
Thank you in advance.

OS: Windows 11 | 23H2 | 22631.4460
OBS: 30.2.3

Your recording settings are set to match your stream settings, try this instead

Oh that was it... I feel really dumb as I spent time looking in the settings, but completely skipped that.
Thank you very much it works now!
