Advice for splitting an OBS recording?

Hello, over the weekend we recorded a 40 hour MKV file for a Guiness World Record break. The file is 140gb in size and we are required to cut this up into 1gb segments. Can anyone advise what the best method to achieve this will be?

IF you search in this forum, you will find other references to AVIdemux
The short version of why it is recommended is that it allows trimming a video WITHOUT re-encoding, which is critical to preserving video quality (think VHS tape copying, if you are old enough ;^). So you'll keep an original of the video, then save off snippets (1GB in your case).
- Note that you'll be forced to select certain frames to do this due to the way video keeps a full (key/i-)frame, then only the delta data in between (p- and/or b-frames). so your cuts will be on that full keyframe. this is paraphrased and NOT my area of expertise.. so hopefully I didn't mess that up too bad in simplifying.
- Why did I mention this? to avoid frustration if you try to cut at a specific frame and avidemux won't (and shouldn't) let you... now you know why
