Question / Help Adding video files?

Someone was working on a plugin for it here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3003
But I don't think they've updated it to work with OBS 0.51 yet :(

I asked this question myself, and for now you have to load the video in a web browser..or what ever player you can get the video file to work in..then basically capture that program or browser. Hopefully soon they will be able to add this in like xsplit has, and make it much easier...but it will work the way I just said.

Hey, I know this is old, but since it's a top result on google I figure I'd help out.
I was able to play a video file in VLC player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html) and then within OBS I used "Window Capture" with compatibility mode checked. I was able to get an MP4 to stream. However, even with "Inner Window" setting checked, it showed the controls for VLC player. I then used "edit scene" and resized the window capture to clip off the controls.
