I built a free browser source overlay that turns YouTube live chat messages into animated NPC-style companions that walk across your stream scene with speech bubbles above their heads.
Instead of a static chat box in the corner, your viewers actually show up on screen as moving characters. It connects through the YouTube Data API (free key, takes about 5 minutes to set up) and works inside OBS Studio and Streamlabs like any other browser source.
What it supports:
- Custom sprite sheets and pixel art characters
- Swappable backgrounds to match your scene
- Adjustable character count and polling speed for lower-end PCs
- Works for gaming, Just Chatting, creative streams, anything really
