This project is now 5 years old and enough people are using in anger that I should really just admit it is stable and release the first 1.0!
I'm preparing to make the 1.0 release shortly, and I'm looking for testers. This is the first beta, and what I need most is to hear how it works on real cameras and real setups, with as many different models and protocols as possible: VISCA (over IP and serial), ONVIF, Pelco, USB cameras, and anything else you have. A lot has changed since 0.19, so please try it with the cameras you use every day, and tell me what works and what doesn't.
Warning: the configuration file format has changed. Back up your old configuration before installing. The plugin will convert old configurations into the new format, but going back to 0.19 from this release means copying your old config file back in, or you will lose your configured cameras.
The macOS installer is signed and notarized. The Windows files are not signed yet, because Windows signing through SignPath is still being set up. Ubuntu packages are for 26.04 (resolute).
What to try
- Pan, tilt, zoom and focus from the dock, hotkeys and a joystick, on each of your cameras.
- Presets: saving, recalling, reordering and the thumbnails.
- The settings dialog's status line. Cameras can now say what their positions mean, so you should see degrees, a zoom multiplier or a focus distance where the camera knows them (the Sony SRG-120DH does so far), and the plain position where it doesn't.
- Focus, especially on VISCA cameras: focus can be set to a position as well as driven near and far, and the direction of a positive focus speed is now consistent with pan, tilt and zoom.
- Switching scenes and scene collections with PTZ cameras attached, and quitting OBS cleanly.
Also new in this beta
- Cameras now report their state reliably. Check the position report in the settings dialog.
- You can choose to have OBS tell cameras to power on as start, and power off at close.
- The Stream Deck example has a Stream Deck+ dial for pan, tilt, zoom or focus, with a picture of where the camera points, and keys for stop, home, autofocus, one-push focus and white balance, power, camera status and presets. It is an example, not a finished product, and I'd like to know if it works for you.
For plugin developers
This beta also gives other plugins a chance to work with the new PTZ Device API. The API is version 0.6 and is still subject to change, so please don't treat it as final. It is specified here:
https://github.com/glikely/obs-ptz/blob/main/docs/ptz-device-api.md
If you write a plugin that controls a camera, or that wants to control cameras through obs-ptz, I'd like your feedback on what is missing or awkward, on the API discussion page:

When you report a problem, please say which camera and protocol, your OS, and what you saw. A log from the camera's "Camera report" (in the settings dialog) helps a lot. Report here, or on GitHub:

I'm getting close to making the next major release of PTZ Controls. There are huge changes coming that will make the plugin much more functional and easier to manage. I want to make sure all the translations are accurate before I make the release. If you speak any language other than English, please head over to Crowdin and correct any errors that you see. Most of the strings have been pre-populated with generated translations, so I expect there will be some errors in there. Here is the project page:

To help you out, I've also tagged a pre-release so you can see the strings in context. Back up your obs-ptz config file before installing the new one as it changes the configuration file format. You can find it here:

This is a bug fix release. Anyone using the action source should upgrade immediately
I think I've finally solved the OBS Studio compatibility issues. With this release the plugin is no longer tightly bound to the version of Qt used in OBS Studio, so upgrades should no longer break the plugin. Other than that, this is just a minor point release with some bug fixes around serial port handling. Go forth and test.
New release today! Binaries on Windows and MacOS work with latest OBS Studio 32.2.1. Ubuntu binaries are available for both 24.04 and 26.04.
This is a maintenance release to support OBS Studio 32.0.1. There are no functional changes.
The new minimum supported version of OBS Studio for the released binaries is now 31.1.1
em que aprendo a falar português
I'm quite happy with this release. Not only does the plugin finally support localization with translations added for Portugese, Danish, German, French, and Norwegian, but there have been updates throughout the core code. Joystick buttons can now be mapped to any OBS hotkey. The VISCA protocol handling is more robust and should be better at reporting camera power and autofocus state. It is also the background work that was needed to start adding control of extended camera settings through the plugin. There is a sizable backlog of feature requests that were blocked on that work, so I'm hoping to get through some of those in the next release. The UI has been cleaned up, with more consistent layout and closer match to the style of the built in docks. The on-screen joystick has been simplified, and now gives visual feedback.
Thank you to everyone who helped with code, translations, and testing. I also love hearing about how you're using the plugin and what would make it work better in your environment. Keep those comments, patches and translations coming!
I'm getting ready to create a new release of PTZ controls. There are lots of reliability and cleanup changes in this release. You can read the full description on the 0.18.0-pre1 release page.
Most importantly the plugin now supports localization translations. I'll make the 0.18.0 release in about two weeks. Before then, if you want to have PTZ Controls translated into your own language, please head over to the Crowdin project page and provide any translations that you are able to, or proofread to make sure the current translations are accurate.
I've just added support for internationalization to the plugin so it can be used in other languages. Unfortunately, English is the only language I actually speak, so I need help from here. Would you be able to help translate OBS Studio into other languages?
I've set up a translation project on Crowdin. It should be easy to go to that site and start translating the plugin strings into other languages.

Bug fix release for VISCA over IP cameras. If you’ve had problems with VISCA over IP cameras taking a long time before it starts working then then version should fix it
