Question / Help x264 CPU Preset

What is x264 cpu preset? If I set it to ultrafast will it work fast to get the video out, but has less strain on my cpu???

the faster... the lower the quality + less workload on your cpu
so the slower.. improves the quality + more workload on your cpu

Stick to Very Fast
If you are getting drops, or slow encoding red warnings - then lower the output resolution, maybe also need to drop fps as well

It's on very fast, but OBS freezes, so I was gonna change it too ultrafast. I do have a single core, but every seems to work fine except it freezes and then continues.

Then you should definitely invest on a new computer, single core is not recommended for recordings/streaming
Try several things besides the ultrafast.. lower bitrate, output resolution(downscale), fps
