Question / Help x264 cpu preset

Hi. Tried to stream yesterday, and put my cpupreset on normal. Got a pretty ok+ computer.

But, after i turned off stream etc, and I got better perfomance than before, like a lot better. (Higher fps and no stuttering that i used to have)

Someone experienced the same, and has this something to do with the x264 cpu preset?

Can i find any settings like this in Windows 8, and not the streamprog?

x264 does not have a profile named "normal". veryfast is already quite taxing on the cpu, going any slower will propably leave no cpu for even the most simple games.

Oh, must have been my norwegian kicking in. Probably "medium" or something, in the english version.

Veryfast is actually the "normal" preset. If you plan on streaming pc games you should use that.
I understand. But if I turned on medium, and got insanely better performance, even better after i closed the streaming program. Does it do any changes to my CPU elsewhere on my computer? I just can't seem to figure out how i get better performance after closing the program.

Ehm, OBS cannot do that, you might have a turbo option active in your bios.
The log file so far looks good, medium preset is definitely very cpu intensive, but since you are using a quite low resolution, unless you have problems I would keep it that way.
To get better performance just test with fast, faster or the default veryfast preset. See which gives you the best results.

Yeah, found out that I had turbo-boost enabled.. but doesn't quite explain why my Diablo III runs smooth as butter now all of a sudden :p weird, but not your area of expertise, i suppose :)
