Hello! Whenever I try to stream (preview or actual stream) every, 4-5 seconds my stream preview window freezes. The game is fine, music audio in the background is fine as well, just obs freezes. It only lasts for about 10 seconds then unfreezes, only to freeze again. I have a feeling that it might just be because of windows 10, because I go look at the OBS logs and I see no error messages, or anything unusual. Not sure if this is a windows 10 problem or obs problem, either way help would be greatly appreciated! Will be happy to provide any other information needed.

Hello, I had a similar issue when I updated to windows 10, only my problem was constant lag/stutter/ I noticed that will using the 64 bit version of OBS, it always gives me the HIGH CPU Encoding message and this was making me stream laggy and eventually, unwatchable! Surprisingly, the 32 bit of OBS works perfectly fine!
What are your PC specs, DL/UL speed and were you having this issue before updating to windows 10?

The thing is, I'm using the same exact settings before when I used windows 7, same specs same internet speeds etc. I get 50 dl and 15-20 up and my encoding settings have always worked for me. I'm at school right now so I don't know my exact specs, all I know on the top of my head is that it's a laptop, and had a geforce gtx 765m and an Intel i7. I've also always used 32bit obs.

I noticed that everytime after obs freezes, the kb/s on the bottom right corner goes astronomically high for a split second (15000-30000 kb/s) then it goes back down to normal, even when it's not frozen the kb/s goes up to 5-8k. My max bitrate is 1850 and bitrate size is 1500.

OBS can work for Windows 10 however the operating system is still in beta... Or, whatever stage it is. In my opinion or perspective, it can be an Operating System thing. All I can suggest is to not record on Steam panel, and play the game itself, just do not go on Steam.

The game i'm trying to play (call of duty black ops) won't let me play without going into steam. Unless i'm doing something wrong?

Oh wait; so hang on. If you have Steam and OBS at the same time on, it does this? Or are you trying to record on Steam?

I have obs and steam up at the same time, I sign into steam to play black ops, then I exit out of the main steam window and just have obs up. I don't stream or record through steam.

Again, if I need to stream for a few moments and post the log of what happens, I will gladly do so. Any response as to what could be happening here would be massively appreciated.

This problem was solved thanks to Jim in live chat.
Turns out, one of the scenes I was using (window capture) was making me drop frames massively. If anyone else has this problem, delete each of your scenes one by one until you figure out which one is making you drop frames.
