Question / Help Will the AMD 8350 or 9590 processors be worth upgrading to from an i5-2400?

I currently have been streaming on a intel i5 2400/8gbram/EVGA 660ti for around 3 years now and think It's time for an upgrade.

My question is, will upgrading to a 8350 or 9590 make a significant difference compared to an i5 2400? if so how much?

intel or AMD for .264 encoding? (looking past quick sync ofcourse).

I must also say, I'm aware that a 9590 is basically an overclocked 8350, however I'm not very comfortable doing this myself.

No, the difference is going to be to small and not worth it for you to spend your money on. Intel's new broadwell cpu series will be up in december. You might find your interest in upgrading to a new and nice i7 there. The upgrade for a new motherboard and i7 cpu will cost you around 400 dollars, but it will last you a few years. Though, if you don't have the money for that....I'd simply wait another year for something else to show up.

if you spent money on a new hardware as of right now ... just think about one thing do you want changes or just a higher clock speed, because only a higher clockspeed is what you get from amd for the last 2-3 years thats sad but true thats the reason why the 9590 is now sold for ~300$ instead of 800$.

if you actually plan to stream a lot i would rather suggest an intel xeon since its the pricing of an i5 with the encoding power of an i7 which is what you pretty much want. (e3 1230v3 just as example)

your gpu should be mostly fine i'd rather wait for your cpu to upgrade till end september when nvidia is probably gonna release their new stuff.

so on intel will be also releasing their new cpu's mostly mobile cpus right now but the desktop cpus will follow, but this might take till 2015, therefor the prices drop quite a bit of the current haswell cpu's including i3/i5/i7 and obviously xeon

Same reason i got myself in trouble. I got me a i5 3570 just when Haswell was about to be released. Price difference was minimal, like 10 euros or something, but i forgot all about it and went to the store and got me a 3rd gen I5.

Stupid me. Even tho, the difference between 3rd gen and Haswell is minimal (like 10% or something), it would be nice to be on latest hardware at the time, just because price difference was ridiculously small..

I regret buying an i5 after all...if I only put some 100 doekoes more into my system I would've had a great i7 for streaming and gaming purpouses. Such regret, very wow.

But I'm gonna enjoy my new i7 5820k, same as new motherboard + ddr 4 ram this autumn :D

Yeh, I have high hopes for those cards. I heard rumors they aren't going to be that much faster than the 780 though. But they ARE gonna be a lot more efficient, which could be interesting for a lot of people. With a 780 from Asus I shouldn't be upgrading the next 3 years.

But I'm getting a bit out of topic, so I should shut my mouth >_<
