I only just touched the world of streaming, and so far I like it more than just recording and uploading to YouTube. My current setup was built with only gaming in mind (I wasn't thinking about possibly streaming in the future) so I bought the i5 4690k. So my question is, would I be fine to stay with my CPU (possibly use quick sync) or should I go for an upgrade. I was thinking about buying the Xeon 1231 v3 or the i7 4790k for streaming. I have seen several people say to get the i7, but no one seems to know how well the i5 4690k streams. I seem to stream fine with just the game (currently emulating games), twitch, and OBS running (key words, "seem to be"). However, in the future I want to have people to stream with and play multi-player games with (using teamspeak/skype), so I am hesitant to try it with my quad core CPU. I don't plan on playing demanding games with friends that often, so I am not sure how that will play out.
Just a side note, but since I "seem" to be doing fine right now, I was just humoring the idea of saving money over the next 6 months and buying the i7 5820k. This could be an option, but I doubt streaming would need that many cores, plus the price tag is very hefty for the X99 platform.
I would appreciate it if someone who has had experience with these two CPUs help me compare how they do in streaming. Thanks in advance!
