Question / Help Wich Nvenc Preset for High Quality/High File compression?

My GPU Vid Engine Load is only at 51% so I thought is there any Preset that has a Higher Compression?
Because x.264 on Preset:Veryfast a 20min file is about 3-4 Gigabyte big with a no limit bitrate and CRF=20

The Nvenc Preset: High Quality 2:37min is Already about 1,14 Gigabyte big so 9 GB for 20min Triple as big.

Both recordings are made with no Bitrate limit and CBR -> Disabled.

The advantage of the CPU encode the filesize is so good that I can Upload directly but 9GB would be way to much and would cost me 4th the time to compress the size+keeping the quality.

Why I like to know?
Because I can on some games only keep 60FPS ingame, If the CPU isn't stressed.

Just to verify, you're using OBS to record gameplay?

Yes Local Recording with OBS is awesome so far. Tried Bandicam -> Shit Quality and File Size, Tried MSI Afterburner -> Shit Quality + File Size, Tried Fraps -> dumb huge file size, ShadowPlay -> buggy, stops recording Audio + File Split every 3,8GB

OBS so far the best I've ever had.

Actually, Shadow play works great for me and the file sizes are reasonable with pretty good quality for video rendering with the right software of course. However, you should try DXtory or even the Avermedia Live gamer HD Capture card.

Also, 20 min recording with OBS with 3-4 gig file is actually not bad and you'll get better quality. I would recommend, to split the recordings every 5 min. to shorten the file size

I would use Shadowplay if It wouldn't be so unreliable with the above Problems
and my videos have to be 15-20min long especially in LP's

And yeah I know 3-4 Gb are great not to say awesome, but still there are some games where I need to take away the Stress from the CPU for constant 60 FPS ingame, and Nvenc is just the way to go. I just wanted to know If there is any Preset for the GPU encoder to have a better compression while maintaining the Quality. I could set a Maximum bitrate but that would impact high motion scenes pretty heavy in there quality.

For further Comparison x264 has a maximum of 60k kb/s Nvenc is about 150k+

Then i would recommend using DXtory, with the "Lossless codec"

Loseless = huge filesize so it wouldn't make any difference right?
That would be like setting OBS on Ultrafast preset and that would be like using fraps=dxtory in filesize.

Actually, it's the opposite. Just don't check RAW file size in DXtory. What possessor are you using? And how much ram do you have?

i7-4790k, G.Skill XTrident 2400Hz 16GB Dual Channel, there is also a lossless preset in Nvenc btw.

In what way is a lossless codec not huge in it's file size?

Ok...definitely no problem with that processor, sweet!! The file is still a little large, but much smaller than what you described. There are two settings in the video section of DXtory..i can't remember one of them, but the other is record in 'RAW' format. you don't want to check that box..check the other so the files are not soooo big. No matter what, there's always a trade off...like the ole saying, "you can't have your cake and eat it too" you will always sacrifice something. If you want the best quality video, you will sacrifice something else. But i recommend using DXtory, with
Lagarith Lossless Video Codec and a decent video editing software to upscale the quality. I actually do this with shadow play and get amazing video quality on my uploads on youtube. But i believe DXtory is slightly better and so is OBS, i just don't think you can select or add a codec with OBS.

I thought the presets are some sort of codec x.264 veryfast=small ,superfast=big , Ultrafast=biggest so I figured the presets have something to do with the compression(codec) and that there is a similar preset for Nvenc so that I can sacrifice more GPU Vid Engine to compress the files kind of the same way as with x.264. Seems I have to run more tests maybe there is one wich fits me, just thought It could be easier to ask here :3 But If I would need a Video Editor there is no real reason at all to use Dxtory and could just use the Nvenc xD I got Sony Vegas but It cant open the mp4/flv OBS creates no matter what settings so I am just using Windows Movie Maker IF I have to edit something wich happens rarely.
Any Video Editing software that includes the codec to edit OBS mp4 files?
