Question / Help Why does OBS take so long to shut down ?

so yesterday i streamed for a good 3 hours and when it came to stopping i pressed - Stop streaming and then - Exit - and it took OBS ages to shut down .

i have a pretty good spec machine

ProcessorIntel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Video CardNVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti
Memory8.2 GB
Operating SystemMicrosoft Windows 8 Professional Edition (build 9200), 64-bit

so why does it appear so laggy when closing the programme down ?

I've noticed this behaviour whilst using DXTory.
If DXTory is capturing still, OBS will seemingly crash when I hit exit or stop-streaming until I alt-tab back to the game and stop DXTory from capturing.
Then OBS shuts down immediately.
