Question / Help Why does obs only work for flv files and not mp4 files for me?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and I have a question. I apologize if this already has been asked already. I did search around for a solution for quite some time.

My problem is I can ONLY get video output as a flv file. When I try to get output as a mp4 file by change the extension from .flv to .mp4 I only get audio output for my recorded videos. The same issue occurs if I use the 'browse' button and try to save the file as a mp4 file.

Has anyone encountered this issue before and know a solution? Thank you in advance for any help with this matter.

Well, you don't actually want to save directly to mp4, as it's a VERY bad idea to do so.
Renaming the file in windows explorer doesn't change the container format, so whatever media player you are trying to use for MP4s may not recognize it properly.

You're better off saving to FLV and using a container conversion method if your editing software requires mp4.
