Question / Help Whenever I record it lags my game

memeulous

I was trying to record GTA 5 with OBS and it lagged, at first I thought it might be my PC but then I tried recording CS:GO (a really easy game to run) and there was still lots of lag.

What system do you have?

What are your recording settings in OBS?

What lagged? Did the game lag or did your recording lag?

I think your system specs are too low for recording especially recording GTA 5..

Your GPU is outdated (5 years old) and i don't know about your CPU..

CPU is really important for recording with the x264 encoder..

so you should find out what CPU you have.

Just right-click on my computer and click properties..

I am having the same issues a memeulous. I was trying to record Minecraft and my game and the recordings are both very laggy. It only lags once I start recording though. I have 16gbs of RAM, an A4-5000 quad core processor, and a 2GB GTX 960. Can anyone help me out?

I think your bitrate is way to high..

Follow these settings for awesome recording quality..

All this chat and still no logfile. could you please post your logfile from the help menu of OBS? upload it, copy the link and post the link here.

As for your system, it should be fine with superfast preset but still 720@60 will still be CPU intensive and GTA5 is an intensive game anyway

If you are local recoring you should try quicksync or NVENC if you have a new enough video card for it. 700 or 900 series.

when I enabled aero it just lagged even harder
Sadly, to maintain stream fps aero needs to be enabled.

Try these settings and see what you get,
720@30fps
preset superfast
aero enabled

Change bitrate to 1000 and buffer to 0 quality balance to 8.
