What is this? Desktop Audio acting like Mic Input???

I just had a weird issue with OBS Studio. As one would expect, I told OBS Studio to recognize both my Logitech C920 webcam and I setup my Samson Meteor mic for my Audio Input capture. As for Desktop Audio, I had assumed that it was tied directly to my mini PC's onboard mic. It's a Dell i7 w 6 cores and & 16MB of RAM. I had set Desktop Audio to mute.

For some reason, I was getting a weird tunnel effect after I'm done recording. I couldn't figure it out and it is only a recent event. I did some digging in my older YT videos and that weird effect wasn't there. I conducted an experiment and got rid of the Audio Input Capture. Would you believe OBS Studio had been using my Samson mic, the whole time. What am I missing? Beforehand, I used to record my videos on my old i3 laptop that has a built in mic.

I've never had this problem, before. Yes, I am using Windows 10 and haven't upgraded to 11, yet.

Your assumption about Desktop Audio was incorrect. Start with OS Sound settings. Personally, I disabled All OBS Default Audio sources, and only adding explicitly desired Audio sources to my Scenes (which works great for me, but won't in all circumstances... it depends)

First thanks for telling me how to get rid of a needless meter. I disabled it and bought in the Samson Mic as an Audio Input Capture. My home is quiet and I'm the only person. The studio is in small 9x11 room. My micro PC has mainly USB 3 connectors (blue). I am ready to upgrade my mic. I'm just showing a pic of my setup. Talk about a small desk. I'm doing both audio podcast and YouTube. Any suggestions? I've put up any acoustic foam in the den where the setup is located.

your room is realy clean use foam or try use nvidia broadcaster or krisp !
I had to look those two up. My Dell Micro doesn't have an onboard NVidia graphic. I'm not sure of how Krisp would work since I'm recording both audio and video in OBS Studio. As for foam, I'm not sure of what you mean.
