Hi!

I wanted to stream a game from my Xbox One.

I capture it with a capture box (elgato) and want to stream it to twitch with my gaming laptop (asus rog g751jy).

My upload bandwith is 11 Mbit.

I tried a lot of settings with tips from other forum or youtube videos. but every time my stream is lagging or buffering.

And in OBS I see the red square. But why? My settings are not too high for my hardware? :-/

I have no idea if there is anything wrong in my settings. Maybe you can help me?

My settings:

Encoding

  • Nvidia NVENC (also tried x264)
  • CBR
  • CBR padding
  • Max Bitrate 3500
  • AAC, 48kHz - 128 stereo

Video

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M
  • 1920 x 1080
  • Resolution Downscale: 1.50 (1280 x 720)
  • Bilinear (fastest)
  • 30 FPS

Advanced

  • Multithreaded Optimizations, High, Scene Buffering Time 700
  • NVENC Preset: Streaming (i also tried auto)
  • Encoding Profile: main
  • Keyframe Interval: 2

nvenc's quality will always be abysmal.

Red square means driver failure on the elgato side. Which bitness of OBS are you using?

The red square is not always red. But a few seconds after i started streaming.
