Question / Help What´s the best way to broadcast a cell phone video conference on OBS ?

Hi, All,

If I´m broadcasting live, and I want to bring kind of a "reporter" from anywhere using cell phones, how should I do it ? Would it be better to we both install some software like Zoom or Skype and I ( somehow ) transfer the content of the screen of my phone ( Mirroring ) to my PC and to OBS ? How this could be done ? I mean, how can I mirror the screen of the phone ( and audio ) to OBS without lag ( could I use some kind of HDMI cable linking my cell phone to the PC, or a USB cable for that and then, pull the screen to OBS ? ). I think that in order to have a real time conversation, perhaps it´s better to link the two phones first with a software, and then mirroring one of them to OBS using cable. Does it work ?

Thanks !

Several major streaming platform providers already have tools that let you stream directly from a cell phone with it's built-in camera: YouTube, FaceBook and Mixer come to mind.

But it's not only streaming. It's two way communication in real time. If it was only a person talking from some place of the city, or the world, yes, I could use Facebook, or YouTube, but we need to have a conversation in real time and I want to choose camera 1 me, and camera 2, the person, in real time. Perhaps using zoom would be possible, but how to mirror the local cellphone to OBS without any delay ? Audios should be very synchronized.

Well, you will need a service provider who can bind the two connections....unlike Mixer or Twitch's encoder where it's only a one way connection with no returning audio from the viewer. You would need to find a service provider who has a VPN since the requirement would be "from anywhere in the world." That VPN concentrator should allow connectivity to the secure encoder and audio conferencing services. Something like Polycom or Zoom may allow you to connect to the distant end, then capture that window into OBS for live streaming.

Here is a video where it can be done.

Great video;
OBS + Skype had a bug reported by me in the past:
for no apparent reason, YouTube live broadcast had no audio;

I’ve researched extensively and reported to both OBS and YouTube but none care about the problem;

I migrated to another platform;
Out of respect to OBS, since this is their forum, I will not report here platforms I am currently using;

for the records: OBS + Skype are an excellent broadcast platform;
Integration support is the weak point

Hi, I use Skype from my pc but when I need to broadcast from my phone I use Whoosh instead, it has clear audio and enhances the video during broadcasting. Hope it helps!
