Question / Help Webcam Latency Question - Logitech C910 & C920

I've kind of noticed that as well; when using any video chat, things are in-sync with full quality on the video side (well, it SAYS it's using 1080p), still using my mixer for audio-input (hooray for laziness helping to test things inadvertently!).
OBS is the only thing that needs this offset, or seems to have the 300ms delay issue. Recording video, live video chat, anything. I assume it's something with OBS' capture method, but have no idea what that would be.

I'm... actually considering reinstalling XSplit, just to see if their capture does the same thing.

Note that OBS has one or two frames of webcam delay if you enable "multithreaded optimization". But that's only about 33-66 milliseconds. I wish I would replicate but I definitely do not feel a 300 millisecond delay. Usually, it depends on the output format you're using. Webcams usually have multiple output formats, and OBS usually defaults to the lossless one, which may require more bandwidth.

For my C920 though I still have no issue with delay, but I will note that I did have some issues with it that only happened before I installed drivers from windows update. After I installed those drivers, everything worked fine. I might also note that I have no codec packs installed -- for all I know intermediary filters are somehow getting added.

I don't get 300 ms delay. In honesty the delay is hardly noticeable unless you take your recording/stream and put it into an editing software. We are talking 4½ - 5½ frames @ 30 fps. This is only for the C920 though... With the C910 I get around 250 ms - 300 ms.

Maybe I should try to run OBS without the "Multithreaded Optimization". Is that gonna require more of my system to stream Jim?

Also... Jim could you try and do a local recording where you do some claps? If you have an editing software you should notice the small amount of delay. The claps usually happens 4½ - 5½ frames before it happens on the webcam.

If you want to ensure the mic is synced up with the video, then why not use "mic audio time offset" in audio settings to manually adjust its time to match the webcam?

Or, optionally, you can disable the mic in audio settings, and use it through the source itself. Turn on "Use buffering" at 0, and the sound should be synced there as well. (Might want to use the latest test version because I recently removed buffering delay from capture devices when using "use buffering" at 0)

Was there ever any resolution to this?

I had a Blue Yeti Mic and recently overhauled my OBS settings and got a new AT2020 and am now experiencing these delays.

Sorry for necroing this fairly old thread - but it seems that the Logitech C920 is still one of the fastest Webcams available and I'm considering buying this as a cheap solution for VR Mixed Reality streaming.

Are these delays still an issue? Are there any other Webcams that would not introduce such a delay? Can the timing offsets also be applied to other sources, so in case it's not possible to remove the delay of the camera, the other Video sources (a game window that has 4 sections that are mixed with the Webcam stream) could be offset so that they're in sync with the Webcam?

I have the c920 and I've been searching all kinds of videos to fix this huge lag problem with my web cam, nothing has worked. Does anyone have any suggested settings I should put them at? Need help.
